Sword or Orc Slaying You say?

They still may have something out there that takes a group of people to take down ... but due to the single player focus, instances where it would require a group of people to take down a mob may be restricted to dynamic events

 

There have been statements made by RG concerning the type of raiding that we have become accustom to such as WOW ... part of the vision for RG's RPG is to make the gaming experience more realistic/logical ...

dynamic events (with possible large creatures ...dragon?) fit his vision of this game more than a static super MOB that is always waiting to be killed over and over again

There also has been multiple threads concerning what would be realistic/logical drops ... but that would take this thread in a different direction than the OP intended

 

A sword crafted by a master craftsman should be better than a sword crafted by a neophyte, and the cost and perhaps even the skill necessary to wield it effectively should reflect that. A sword lying in a dungeon for who knows how long should be a corroded piece of 'losa', and a hunk of barely sharpened iron carried by an orc (or whatever beasties that will inhabit SotA) should be no match for steel crafted by even beginning player smiths.

Ah but what of one off a King Dragon or any sort of Leader be it Undead, Orc I see your point lol, Dragons hold treasure of great value, gold armor weapons, jewls etc.

 

Or just a intelligent being, would they not keep the equipment they possess in good working order? Sure a undead abomination cleaving every living thing may not care about it's weapon, but surly a brigand would.
