The dancing tease

No programming language unless you're referring to the link I added - the Anarchy Online link was used to show how players there made their own macros for that game. Completely unnecessary for what I'm proposing which is just about getting icons onto our emotes. It was just used as an example of another way players have done that in past games. Other ways as I said immediately after you snipped my post was just to assign an icon to an emote, with the game providing the GUI for this.

If you read how my idea actually works (basically everything after you snipped my post), then you'd see it's just basic use of a series of emotes, which should be fairly easy for the devs to get into the game without having to totally rewrite everything and lay down a whole new system.

Something that allows more choreography would be nice too

 

Personally I think both are great ideas. I'd love to have various emotes on the non-combat bar (or maybe even some combat based taunts could be fun).

Also, I agree with choreography being a great option. It could be partnered up with music designed in game that would mesh up perfectly when performed together. I'm sure the theater troupe or a dance hall team might really enjoy being able to automate performances.

I love how some ideas are causing others to be created. That's the best part about brainstorming.

LOL but of course not, what about the songs "don't forget to dance" and 'can I have this dance for the rest of my life" (big commitment there) and 'you make me feel like dancing"

I think we can all benefit from having dancing play a special part in this game. As in everything I feel that what goes into this game should be special and as fun as we can get it.

People will use their emotes, it adds so much to the conversation to have the visuals to go along with what we say. No one is all work and no play and if they are I will talk to them lol j/k.

 

Dances are important! *slams fist on table*

 

I seem to remember Bren and I talking about something silly like exactly that when the conga line idea first came up.

Well we have the blessing from the Devs to push the brainstorming further. So, lets step it up a bit and get some more ideas for them to consider to make sure we have the best system around.

I can definitely say if you DON'T incorporate the moves in this video it will probably be for the best.

 

In all seriousness, if some war dances were implemented it would be awesome. Doubly so when joining a dance is implemented (i.e. the dance circle or conga line) this would allow one group to challenge another prior to a slaughter (team PvP or whatever). One of the best parts about rugby matches is seeing the teams that do these psych themselves up.

It might also be interesting if this does get implemented and some creatures are given it as an idle (kobolds in the war camp or elves or whatever).

 

This always reminds me of a fisherman's dance, beat, costume and all . Japanese style but why not?

 

Speaking of war dances; this would be my war dance, and battle cry, right before charging fearlessly into battle!

This would be absolutely brilliant!

Allow NPC villagers to dance a Maypole in the afternoon's on a holiday.
Give war camps a nightly dance around a fire, added to there 'in-camp' schedules! (imagine joining in a Kobald congo line to 'sneak' into their hideout!)
Let players 'blend in' during an aristocratic dance at a palace court-yard, (if they've achieved the quest to learn the right emote, and gathered all the pieces to wear the right costume), granting them access to the otherwise 'off-limits' areas of the Palace!

etc..etc..
