The Making of: Brittany Wharfs

Hey Folks, SorcerousSteve here to give you a sneak peek at the upcoming Brittany Wharfs currently in production!

The Brittany Wharfs are located directly north of Brittany. It is an area heavily focused on trade, merchants, and crafting. Below we catch a glimpse of the main harbor and boat traffic at its peak.


Looking north to the Warehouse District. Rails line the streets to facilitate the transportation of cargo from the warehouses to the harbor.


For those of you in search of bigger size lots, you may be pleased to know that Brittany Wharfs will have plenty of town sized lots. As a matter of fact the vast majority of lots in this neighborhood of Brittany will be town size. Produce market lies in the foreground.


A serene street just a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle of the harbor.

Looking forward to seeing more

 

Place is getting big! Should be fun to go wandering between these scenes.

 

Looks nice but so bland, dark, and not very colorful. Hopefully, it's just bad weather for these screens

 

@SorcerousSteve please consider making another video tour like you did of Brittany a couple months ago. That was great!

I like the overall 'industrious' look of the Wharf. Even without the NPCs, it looks like people are in the middle of doing work.

This new Brittany Wharfs has lots of commerical activity concentrated in dedicated areas. I look forward to seeing them crowded with people. Thank you for all the detail you put in there, down to the coloured pennants lining the residential streets.

@SorcerousSteve , could you please try to get in a WORKING crane down at the docks? I want to see if it is people rotating those driving wheels or if our donkey or llama pack animals have managed to grow up.

 

I hope by some point there's a squinty eyed old man with a pipe in his mouth on the wharfs.



We need wearable pipes first and pipe emotes first, I'm thinking.

 

It would be really really cool to see NPCs doing activities. But not only things like that. Blacksmiths forging, Fishermen carrying fish from the docks, Fishermen fishing, Shipworkers loading and unloading cargo, etc.

Witcher 3 is a good example of how that stuff is cool and enhances the atmosphere of a game.

 

Nice! Keep up the good work, can't wait to see more.

 

Hmm.. I love the work, but those Lord homes are looking like McMansions all in a row. I can't wait until we can start customizing roof type/color, and brick color/variants to keep them from looking identical.

 

Do you have some houses where merchant houses stores stuff that is to be sent by ships and also store stuff that has arrived by ships?

 

Thanks Duke Night Owl! I will post an overhead with the lot layout as soon as I finalize the other half of the map, and yes this is only half of it so far! I tend to take overhead lot layout screenshots on the final days of production of a map that way you guys can have the most accurate layouts.

 

I would love to do another video tour!
