I agree that there should be a way to see pooled experience without opening that big ol window... But, my window is transparent. Which is still a big window but not blood red blocking my entire screen. Maybe there are some settings you could use to make it like mine. I'd be upset if that big red square was on my screen too!

I do get why they don’t list this on the stats bar,

But clicking k every once in a while to keep eyes on something vitally critical is still not the best solution either....

But I can’t think of a better solution.

Even if you want to see other information in that window, it still takes an obnoxious amount of screen space, even on 1080p. It does seem to be able to scale a bit for smaller screens, and I'd be happy if it could be resized to be not quite so big.

:) Yes, if it were bright red I think they would have heard about it more regularly before.

In all seriousness, I hate this as well. It definitely needs to be something that can be shown in a very small gump, or an option to have it show as a non-moveable text thing like the coords can be. Anything would be better than this. I seriously look at this number about as often as my own health bar.

should just put it with the rest of your stats when you open character screen.

I just wish I could like this post more then once!

I don't think I have to say this, but the problem isn't that the window is opaque, but that it takes all the clicks that I really want to go to things behind it.

It used to be shown on the bottom of the screen and they took it away.
They didn't want people looking at it........

Can't speak for @FrostII, but my standing theory is they are trying to prevent new players from coming.

I believe they thought that we were to "focused" on it, plus they didn't want us to watch it go down when we died.
Hey Port ! I've got a better idea. Get rid of the stupid death penalty and maybe some of the backers we lost will return.........

Some people complained that seeing the xp bar at the bottom broke their immersion so it was removed.

No! death penalty is a great way to make players very caution to deaths. I love that.

But to come back to the thread, XP as an always viewable option seems awesome.

Yes! I love that there's a real sense of danger when I fight something that is above my level.

City of Heroes had a system where you could take up to 5 stats (any in the game that you wanted) and have them displayed in a little box at the top of your screen. I was always amazed by how many different things other players felt were "most important" to them. I loved the flexibility it provided to players. This was 10 years ago that CoH developed this, so I'm sure the technology wouldn't be unknown or "too complicated to implement" for Portalarium.
