Does anyone happen to know where I can find the recipe for castle wall corner? (not the tower.. just the corner).. having a heck of a time finding one.

Edit: Never mind, found them. Castle recipes are in Spire and Graff Island.

Just an update.. family issues, life in general and offline mode have been distractions lately. However, with some tinkering I continue to refine my vision. Should work on things this weekend.

This is where it gets technically challenging.. and how I wish there were wedge blocks. :)

So I'm going for an octagon shape.. and I can just about put in the seating.. BUT of course as some know the bleachers are bugged which makes them difficult to place. In fact there is a bleacher set up here on the left on the little pillar there.

I forsee some difficulty with the 'floor' and ceiling sections but I'm sure I'll figure it out. I am quite happy with the interior lighting so far.. it gets quite.. quite dark around the moondial.

So the update is.. this may be more of a challenge than I expected.. and that's saying something. I've considered moving the main 'room' about.. which should solve some issues for me.. but the ultimate problem is the roof.

Now there appear to be some tricks to getting slabs of stone to hang over the edges of other stone objects.. that much I figured out. but it's a very limited trick complicated by the needed height of the roof and the 5 stack limit. I can only imagine that certain structures were built before certain limitations were in place. That's not to say it can't be done.. I have an idea or two to try out.

Bottom line.. well one I'm still building it.. first and foremost.. two it's still going to take awhile and three it looks like I will be needing more stone to test out ways to get that roof up.

I noticed a guild house right after the Owl's Head bridge that's made out of blocks but somehow they put a roof over it. It's a pain to render but that should be a much lesser issue in your POT.

After the bridge? You don't mean that two level chapel do you? The one that uses chimneys as pillars? (Though I'm sure that's before the bridge).

The biggest problem to the roof is the fact that you can't place anything that hangs over whatever is below it. So the trick is to use multiple objects as the base.. set your object on top over the two of them.. and then move one below it...

Which is complicated by the fact I need to cover a large area.. well above ground. :) So I'll be trying to use multiple chimneys to make a wide base. What goes on top will technically only be resting on one.. the rest can be removed.

I'm thinking in order to cover a large area I might be able to buy a large chess board.. If I can get one or more of those up above the moondial without their supporting pillars being in the way then I'm golden. :) I'll have two layers on top of those to decorate the roof. Otherwise.....

Yup, that's the one. I saw it render bit by bit and it's just like you said.

The chessboard idea might work :)

Bowen, I was thinking that if the chessboard idea doesn't work, you might also consider a structure with an atrium or open courtyard with enclosed wings or colonnaded passages on all four sides. This would leave the moondial open to the skies, as might be appropriate for an observatory. You could then build 2 or 3 floors above the enclosing wings or passageways -- with balustrades overlooking the ground level of the atrium.

From the exterior, you would see a multi-level structure, but, when you go through to the ground-floor central atrium, you encounter the moondial and the open skies above you.

Pssst, @Bowen Bloodgood should this not be a "Planetarium" ? (Thread title).

Unless you were going for a breadstore, in which case you'll want Paneterium :)
