True. You could limit the power snd the number of charges though. They needn't scale up with your elemental magic level as the magical arrows would.

 

Don't have the fleet flute alas but I do have Embry's harp. Hopefully that will keep my pet from becoming a mob aggro magnet too early.

 

Therein lies the rub, brother!

I like playing with a sword and shield. I shouldn't have to dual-wield, use magic, or a bow if I don't want to. That's the problem with a classless system, it's impossible to balance and forces players to min-max their way to the top. Something I find incredibly boring!

 

@Sara Dreygon avoids magic like the plague, uses blades and does pretty well. Don't think she uses the shield though.

The problem with single weapon builds is the lack of dps. Which is why I use pets with my polearm/shield build. Plus the pet tree is self contained, you don't need life heals or resurrect to take care of them. Bows aren't necessary either, the pets do the range work for you.
