There's a guy in Ardoris talking about Reagents

    He might have been there before but I noticed him now due to his fancy duds (good job!)

    What he's saying doesn't match with farming though. Mandrake can only be harvested at night during a new moon? I can grow it all day long back at the ranch.

    Black pearls are extremely rare? Dirt cheap down at the Black Pearl vendor.

    Just an FYI.

    It would be great if an NPC somewhere who is a bit more in the know can explain to the outlanders why the local folk don't seem to know what's going on while the outlanders do. Story potential!

    Yes, Nightshade and Black Pearls only drop a single reagent item per harvest except at night (from around :52 to :15 IRL clock time)

    I haven't even tried to see if there is any change in maximum drops per harvest based on the lunar phase.

    This is pretty old hat for Ultima fans.. but like Ultima, reagents are basically unlimited in supply on the open market. Classic lore/mechanics from the days of Ultima but which only applies to reagents that grow in the wild.

    I would not expect these mechanics to extend to agriculture (though it would be nice if they did to a degree) as you're basically manipulating the plant from start to finish and controlling it's growth to maximize yield which should be determined by your skill and effort and not by anything else.

    It would be nice though if certain techniques could be included into agriculture.. ie plant mandrake at night. water at night.. I would really like those extra layers of depth in the system.. I don't expect them.
