    Sadly, my own experiments with the water elemental confirm the disconnect between one's element atunement and the summoned elemental's power. Despite boosting my water attunement through gemmed equipment PLUS the Frozen Tears of the Titan artifact ( +25 water attunement) no discernible increase in the elemental's damage dealing was observed :(

    Skeleton Mage, Phoenix, Fire Elemental = all use identical attack (skeleton mage had slightly more damage in our tests). Big believer that they should use their own element. Skeleton Mage should use death ray/death touch and bolster its healing to offset decay. Phoenix should attack like the big phoenix (with the AoE attacks) or use the Sun school attacks. Fire Elemental should light people up with fire and DoTs. Sadly, none of that happens and they all use an identical looking ranged attack that doesn't scale with your adventurer level, attunement, or skill level, nor apply any burning effect. It does count as a fire attack though as the Phoenix was immune to the Skeleton Mage's attacks. Likewise, the water elemental never healed itself (so apparently it only is able to heal summoner rarely).

    Also, it appears poison was working on the summoned skeletons and elementals that were fighting the spider (which I don't think happens to MOBs).

    My pet spiders do little to no damage to skeletons with their poison attack. I find it very weird that the summoned undead & elementals are almost nothing like their NPC counterparts. However scaled down the animal pets are, their attack and special attack methods are exactly the same as their NPC brethen.

    As we can see here, it seems like the skeletons did higher damage on average than anything else that comes later. However! There are a couple of factors that should have been factored in:
    My Summon Skeleton is at level 45, with Undead Mastery and Mummified Undead at level 50, so my Skeletal Lieutenant (Skeleton) should have done more damage and ended the fight faster! Yet Moiseyev's Skeleton was doing similar amounts of damage, despite him having lower ranks in the skill and little to no ranks in Undead Mastery. I'm also going to add in the fact that Mummified Undead didn't seem to be helping out at all as both Skeletons were losing the same amount of health from decay in and out of combat, especially when they were first summoned.

    After this, I summoned my Lich (Skill level 25) to test this out.

    The only difference here was that the Lich attacked more often than the Skeleton with its goofy Polearm holding. I am still of the opinion that if the Lich went against a ranged pet it would lose horribly because Ranged pets will often move away if its target is getting too close.

    The next fight was between elementals, Fire vs Water. My Fire Elemental was skill level 27 at this point.

    It seems like the Earth Elemental was doing less damage than the Chaos Daemon, and in fact the Daemon seems to be doing more damage than the elementals in general (as it should), but less damage than the Skeletons. Considering this pet is supposed to be dangerous enough to warrant a separate skill that allows you to control it.......

    As for the Earth Elemental, I'm not surprised that it does the least amount of damage out all of the pets....But I'm told that it could stun a target, yet when we tested it, it never did it.

    Anyway, the next match was both of our Earth Elementals. Mine was at skill level 5.

    As we can see, there is a very clear cut difference between Damage outputs, especially from a Spider. Not only was Spots attacking more often, its poison was also adding in extra damage over time. That being said, Spots does not have very high health, so this fight was actually far closer than what the numbers suggest.

    What's interesting about this fight, is that once Spots hit Leaky with its web, Leaky didn't turn around and fight back. That seems to be a big flaw in the AI when ranged pets are caught by something that stalls them from switching positions.

    As we saw, the Skeletal Mage was dealing no damage to the phoenix. That was because the Mage was only using its standard firebolt attack, the same one the Phoenix and the Fire Elemental use, and the Phoenix is completely resistant to it. This left us confused, as we thought that enemy mages had been changed to where they would also cast Death ray on their target. Why was the Summoned Skeletal Mage left out when this happened? Also, why does the Phoenix use a firebolt attack instead of a Sunbeam attack? Wouldn't that be more appropriate?

    This next fight used my Water Elemental(Skill level 3) instead of the Phoenix.

    Here it actually seems like there was some proper scaling. The Mage wasn't doing much more damage than my Water Elemental, but that health decay was still nasty, and my Water Elemental has more health than the mage.

    The next fight we swapped. I used the Mage(Skill level 45+Undead Mastery/Mummified Undead at level 50) instead, Moiseyev used his Water Elemental.

    As we can see, the Mage is clearly doing far more damage than Leaky, and he also had more health, so why did he lose? That's easy: Health Decay. Health Decay was basically adding on an additional 4 points of damage to my Mage inbetween every single attack! This has led me to believe....That I have wasted 50 skill levels worth of xp on Mummified Undead. I'm not so certain about Undead Mastery, since I have no idea if it's actually affecting damage or ANYTHING at all.

    Despite the Skeleton winning both matches, he would still be dropped to less than half health, thanks to Health decay (Reinforcing the fact that I have wasted XP on a passive skill that should reduce this).


    Overall I'm pretty disappointed. The summons are supposed to be the current capstone of each tree, yet they are so lackluster! They can have plenty of health, but besides having a lower focus drain, this is all they offer! Most of them don't even have anything besides their standard attack (or do anything besides standard attack)! The only ones that do are the Wisp which debuffs and mesmerizes, the Chaos Daemon which will change its attunement (yet for some reason the Daemon has to run away from the target and cast Chaos Bolt which damages the Daemon itself instead for some reason), and the Water Elemental that has a healing skill.

    I really hope that there are some additional tweaks done to the Summoned pets, since Tamed ones already outshine them (and with what's coming in one of the future releases means that Tamed Creatures will start gaining XP like we do....), they really need it. I'm probably going to stop training most of the Summons until then, with the exception of the Daemon, the Undead Pets, and the Fire Elemental since I like using them so much (though I'll need to collect a ton more chips for the daemon).

    I also have a suggestion for the Summoned pets: Perhaps they could be different if you grandmaster their summon skills? Here are some ideas:

    The Summoned Daemon becomes bigger than the player (Though not too big, that way it can fit through doors and halls), and its color changes from red to grey to reflect the Balron from Ultima.

    The Wisp becomes somewhat larger and brighter.

    The Skeletal Footman gains a shield and a Helmet
    • If Mummified Undead is Grandmaster, then the Skeleton becomes a Mummy
    • If Undead Mastery is Grandmaster, the Skeleton is given a two handed weapon.
    • If Mummified Undead and Summon Skeleton are Grandmaster, it becomes Summon Undead Guardian (Mummy but with a sword instead of fists).
    • If Undead Mastery and Summon Skeleton are Grandmaster, the Skeleton's armor changes to silver and it has a two handed weapon.
    • If Undead Mastery and Mummified Undead are Grandmaster, then the Skeleton's armor becomes embroidered with gold and red, and it uses a Polearm.
    • If all 3 are Grandmaster, then the Skeleton becomes a Revenant (Ornate, but rusted plate armor and a Sword/Shield on a Mummy.)
    The Lich's Clothes (but not armor) becomes red and it has some kind of death aura surrounding it.
    • If Undead Mastery is Grandmaster, the Lich's red eyes and glow becomes icy blue and smoke coils off it
    • If Mummified Undead is Grandmaster, the Lich's exposed Skeleton and hands become wrapped in cloth and sand rolls off of it.
    • If Undead Mastery and Summon Lich are Grandmaster, then the Lich's Armor becomes ornate with gold instead of a dull steel color, and it's cloak becomes darker.
    • If Mummified Undead and Undead Mastery are both Grandmaster, the Lich's cloak becomes grey, and its armor and limbs become semi-transparent.
    • If all 3 are Grandmaster, the Lich's armor and cloak becomes embroidered with gold, red and grey instead of its usual colors, and it's polearm glows with pale green light.
    The Water Elemental becomes a more icy blue and it's (armor?) straps glow white instead of red.

    (Not sure what to do about the Earth and Ice Elementals).

    The Phoenix becomes larger and instead of burning with fire it glows with heavenly light instead.

    The Air Elemental is surrounded by a mini tornado that flickers with lightning.

    The Fire Elemental's molten armor expands, covering it's feet and legs, as well as its shoulders with spiked armor pads.

    Nice feedback @Perashim !

    The Wisp has an additional function when put in patrol mode - it searches for reagents and does good job of it though slow at times. It also shares the same defect that the other elementals have, the debuffs the Wisp casts doesn't seem to scale properly.

    My take on summoned elemental pets is that they should have the same attacks as their NPC equivalents but should exist for a limited duration.

    @Numa So what I'm getting at is that the Wisp is the best Summon to have around.

    I think that the Elementals should just have better scaled damage and some alternate ability to match their NPC variants.

    And even though I have said it was alright at first, I think they should get rid of Health Decay for the Undead pets, permanently or until they solve the Health Decay issue. In other games with Health Decay, theirs is much slower than SotA's both in and out of combat. I'm not saying I'm against Health Decay, it's just that it is way too fast right now and I don't think the Mummified Undead passive works right now.

    The problem with the Wisp is that it does no damage at all to the mob and its mesmerize spell lasts a second. Combatwise it's the weakest of the summons which is why I rarely use it while while adventuring. It's best used as a distraction.

    If the Wisp could stealth though it would make the perfect assassin's tool. Currently all the summoned & tamed pets are aggro magnets so stealthing your way through a dangerous area is a useless exercise. A stealthed Wisp would enable you to sneak your way in then while the target mob is distracted by that glowing ball of light, backstab the target to oblivion.

    More useful than turning the Wisp into another light source I think.

    The Wisp may do no damage, but the fact that all it does is debuff (however weak it might be) and mesmerize a target makes it much better than the others. The mesmerize might only last a second, but that still 1 full second of interrupted combat for an enemy. On top of that, the Wisp also fetches you reagents! It's already doing more than the rest! I will admit in a scenario against multiple targets, it's probably the worst to have, but the other options aren't that great either.

    Maybe it only projects a brighter light outside of combat and whenever you aren't stealthed?

    Actually if the Wisp can mez the mob for 3 seconds and if it's power scales up with moon attunement then I'd seriously consider taking it to combat with me. NWN (Neverwinter Nights) had this nice mechanic that when you stealth your pet also stealths with you - it simplified things quite a bit (some pets were better at stealth than others). Having the Wisp adjust its light accordingly (no light when stealthed) would round up this elemental very nicely :)

    Yeah, if it's mez and Dex debuff scaled with its moon attunement or Summon skill level, and if it stealthed with you, it would make a pretty awesome pet. In fact, if all of the pets scaled that way (and if they either had other abilities, or their current abilities triggered more often/ were reworked to be effective), it would make them far more viable choices.

    Something I'm constantly frustrated about when I use my Summoned Daemon (I'm happy to say that it's at skill level 50 right now though), is it's Daemon Chaos ability. This is a telegraphed attack where the Daemon will put distance between itself and the target, and launch what looks like a Chaos Bolt at the target. When the projectile hits, the Daemon immediately starts taking damage (it seems to vary between one tick of damage and several), and the target the projectile hit, does not! Almost immediately as soon as the Daemon starts taking damage, one random attunement it has is increased by 20, and another decreased by the same amount. This attunement swap is good, but (it would be nice if it scaled to match its summon skill level) why does it have to damage itself? Why does it have to fire a projectile in the first place that doesn't damage its target? In fact, why does it critically damage itself, or slay itself with this ability?

    Here's a short log of what happens with the Daemon Chaos ability when my Summoned Daemon used it.

    The Chaos bolt can already cast a bonus on the target asides from the other random damage/debuff effects so I don't understand why it's necessary to graft what is essentially the self damaging mechanic from the Death Tree onto the Chaos Tree. Also, it would be simpler to embed the chaos demon obedience skill into the summons itself. The higher your chaos demon summon skill, the less likely are the chances it will turn on you. But that chance will never be zero.

    The worst thing is that the Daemon's chaos bolt deals no damage to its target at all!

    As for how one is supposed to control the Daemon, I do like the fact that in the future the Daemon will require a separate skill to control it. I would think it means that it is supposed to be the most powerful summon as it requires a new skill to command it. I would add a % chance that Control Daemon actually works which would increase with its skill level, and I would drop the chance to consume a chip down to a 10%-25% range instead of 100%.

    I have the funny feeling that the quest to get the summons (demon) - when it's in place - will be the toughest one of all. Better to get it now i think while it's still a simple 100gp skill gain.

    Most likely the quest to get the Control spell will be the hardest (since it's the final skill tier right now), not to mention you'll have to suffer through 39 levels of the Daemon beating you into fertilizer before you can unlock it.
