From North Quel Woods. I heard you can get a real good view from here.

I brought my spyglass. My telescope was too big to lug overland, so it is still on the roof of my home in Northwood.

I'm going to hang out here and see if I can get even better shots. They say it's supposed to pass by really close tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get some good pictures when it does. I'll post any such pictures tomorrow night.

Ok first I'm going to post some meteor screenshots I got, then I'm going to make a really hard decision.

Here's a triple planets shot I got lucky to catch:

And here's an interesting one, the meteor is faint but it's there:

Sunrise shot near the ankh - anyone know where this ankh is? Never see anyone there and it's a nice XP spot at the right level. One of my favorite spots on the rare occasions I feel like being alone in SotA so I probably shouldn't advertise where it is. :)

Ok here's a night shot at the ankh, can't miss the meteor here:

And finally I decided to get all artsy and take a shot of the meteor half out of a zone, using the "zone fade" as a filter:

Ok so, here's my judging criteria so far...I have to have some criteria or there's no way I can decide this. :)

First of all, the big red asteroid has to be in the shot. There are some amazing shots here (looking especially at you, @Grimace2) that I'm taking out of the prize running on that basis.

Second, as you can probably see by my shots, I lean toward shots that don't have your Avatar in them. It's not an absolute dealbreaker, but it's definitely a preference. Yes, I could have told you going in, but then I wouldn't have seen @Kabalyero's awesome golden lute player or wondered how in the world I missed @Fei Akhart's meteor party!

So that helped winnow it down a bit...but I'm still stuck at around half a dozen shots I really like.

And I gotta go to bed, so I will announce the winner tomorrow...after I come up with some other criteria on which to hang my hat on a decision. Maybe I will put it up to a vote...that feels kind of like wimping out though.

    Ugh, hard!

P.S. @Alley Oop - it's a cool little zone, right? :) I also go there whenever I need spider silk and I don't feel like having to pay much attention while I get it.

Ok first of all, there are many, many good shots here and you couldn't have known the criteria I was going to end up judging by because I honestly didn't know myself. But I'm also going to count out shots that only show the meteor but have no sense of location. That cuts out some really, really nice shots...but I have to cut it down somehow.

So here's the ones I am down to, in no particular order. I just want them in one spot to help me decide.

    First is from @Wilfred:

    Second is from @Fiero Steele:

    Third is from @econner:

    Fourth is from @Skizz:

    Fifth is from @ChavaiotH:

    Sixth is from @jammaplaya:

    Seventh is from @Tamsen:

Eighth is from @Traveller13 - it breaks the "sense of place" rule but I can't help leaving it in, it's gorgeous:
