Town Owners: monsters, resources, and decorations?!

    So in the last ?eighteen? months I've noticed the conversation about POT having the ability to have resource nodes if they had monsters... which implies they'll have monsters. I've also noticed that it was said there needs to be risk so they would need to be PVP flagged? Can the community give their feedback on the devs thoughts here? What do you guys think? Also, can the devs give us more DLMB on this? Is this still in the plans? Is it still going to be PvP flagged POTs exclusively? What era can we expect to see this in (E1R/E1M/E2+?) Wait, is that a lynching mob approaching?

    @Devs
    • We know the decoration capacities will be increased as performance is increased... what about allowing town members to decorate the town as well?
    • We want our towns to be relevant and part of the world but without the ability to add to our adventuring experience there are they? Everything besides PVE/Adventuring experience is able to be done in a POT... can we try this headache of balance and exploited edge cases to see if it's possible?
    @POT Owners
    • Do you guys want resources if they're done right?
    • Do you guys want monsters if they're done right?
    • Do you guys want it restricted to PVP towns? If not, why not?

    • Jump in anywhere here and post your thoughts about candy canes replacing @Themo Lock coal so he can't craft anymore ^.^ (also, feel free to give on-topic feedback :))

    Regarding monster spawns, the suggestion wasn't for POTs.
    It was that one could have a spawn point as a decoration which one would have to go out and refill in the wild.
    Then bring back home and place to get the spawning going.

    nope, and whoever did is already illustrated clearly with the OP, ;) "the unnamed and masked man of the shadows that may actually be a woman... no one really knows" ... ah wait... it says... "to Violation from an unknown writer..." I did that on purpose ;)

    My first reaction would be to ask why a PVP town should have PVE stuff that would distract people from PVPing?

    I will have to think on this more.

    I am so looking forward to the diversity of each and every POT. That is one of the things I am so looking forward to. Now if they all had the same monsters in the same places as well as all the same resources that would sort of defeat the purpose. Perhaps if the owners could select the type of monsters and resources placed it would add more to the mystery of each Pot. I don't understand why it should be restricted to just Pvp towns and I should think that all Pot's would also have the option of an opt out if they so chose.:rolleyes:

    Very much commend you on this post. It has been on my mind and if one could have stuff like this in a pvp pot then I most certainly would go back to pvp. I will read over the post more and comment further.

    I like the idea of having it within the game, personally...

    If you have a guard tower you get attacked by monsters
    If you have a moon tower you don't get attacked by monsters
    If you have a Titan of [insert virtue here] you have [insert harvestables here]

    How would you want to see that put into the game if it was?

    there actually was a dev comment somewhere (LB?), when somebody asked if PoTs could have resource nodes and the answer was "well we would have to also add monsters to guard those nodes" and everybody went "Wooohooo!" and confusion followed.

    No idea, they didn't say, it was in one of the hangouts.
    paraphrasing "collect skeletons and put in a tomb which you then place in your graveyard for skeleton spawns"

    I'm thinking that implementation might take a while to sort out the possible griefing exploits of that.

    Yeah, I'm actually curious if it even needs to be... that's one of the things I'd like to get everyone's thoughts on... then when it's done we can hopefully have a fairly uniformed request to give the team as a group of play testers that talked out the stuff we do/don't want :)

    Yea, you are right that was as part of the
    "if you have a sparsely populated POT you might get some hunting spawns"
    bomb.

    @Violation I would definitely want to see it used randomly, sometimes it happened and sometimes it didn't. I have always liked the element of surprise, and it would get boring fast if you knew beforehand what was going to pop out or not.

    It was DarkStarr that mentioned it.

    In adventure scenes throughout the game that are not PVP, there are monsters guarding resources.
    I see no reason why it couldn't be the same in a POT.
    If people move out, monsters move in.
    If people move in, monsters get pushed out.

    I think that's a great idea. Though I'd like to see the monsters moving in over a long period of time. (months not days)

    I'm not sure if it was during a hangout, or during a visit to Portalarium. Maybe both.
    However, I'll have time tonight to watch the past two or three post mortems. Maybe I'll find it.
