    Yea, that's what I guessed.

    Which brings up the idea: regions that are particularly arid or snowy might have armor, weapons, and equipment somewhat adapted to that climate. In order to buy them, you have to stop at the city in the region, or talk to foreign traders from those regions visiting your own.

    I would guess the lamellar corset placed over the cloth tunic also helped give the added protection of metal plates without the metal being too oppressive under heat. I think there was chain underneath the tunic, too.

    Vikings seemed to have placed leather over chain a lot, and also lamellar, a and wore helmets with chain sides or metal flaps, and even full chain drapes,
