True Bronze vs Gold Engraved?

Sorry but I have not gotten deep into crafting beyond the basic I did long ago and now I see Engraving tools.

I engraved my Fishing Poles with True Bronze which gave me +30% , +5 Skill (fishing) and only -30 Durability

Now if I had used Gold it would have been +30% Speed, +3 Skill and -40 Durability"?

So if oyu look at it straight up Gold is a waste of effort you lose more durability and gain less skill? I still do not know if the +30% speed works with fishing making it faster I could do the math but .

Anyhow, am I missing something or is this the waste it appears to be?

Tbf, the gold engraving kit takes less materials to make, so it's not completely useless.

 

Only a couple of ingots and some modifier materials less.

In the long run, since with tool repair kits, these will NEVER break, it would be well worth the extra little bit of gold to get or make a true bronze engraving kits.

So, yea... the are actually completely useless.

 

Gold engraving is not worth it. Yes, the True Bronze may cost more materials to make, but not much more.

Compare the cost savings difference to the worth of the extra +2 fishing skill and the 10 extra durability (which means many many less repairs over the lifespan of the item) and the True Bronze quickly makes up for that cost difference in materials.

Personally though, I'm going to stick with my prosperity rod (except for maybe some lava fishing for the rares) just because I don't like the interruption of having to stop and repair the rod... and really hate the cost of using the Tool Repair Kit.
