Ulfheim - Caged wolf

I was bouncing through Ulfheim yesterday and loved it! I found my way to one of the waved encounters and saw a caged wolf. "mistreated wolf" or something like that.

Is there a way to free him?

I would also like to know. I couldn't figure it out.

Rumor has it that the mistreated wolves might help you fight.

However, if you pump up the difficulty before he final battle...

... some mistreated wolves will attack the player in the village. They seem to be in a similar difficulty tier as war wyverns based on their name's color.

So whether they will fight with you or against you remains to be seen.

Has anyone managed to open the cage?

 

Yes you can free the mistreated wolves. There are keys nearby but you can only use them if you do not perform any of the other actions that can change the final battle so if you want to save the wolves be careful to not interact with anything else.

 

ah. ok. i think i broke a statue or something. of course i didn't find keys either.

Thanks for the tip. Does that mean that wolves can only be saved in the "easiest" path?
