Legends of Aria is the new UO, check it out!
LoA Alpha 2:
LoA Final Alpha:
Legends of Aria is garbage. SotA is the new UO2.
The only UO2 that can exist is one that Richard Garriott develops. Period.
We have some guildies playing it who are having a great time.
It may look the same, but it doesn't feel the same way (it probably would be really cool ten years ago )
SOTA bears as much resemblance to UO as a potato does to a professor.
UO? What was that again?
I am not sure how you could say LoA is garbage.... I own it also. It's the spiritual successor to UO... There is just no arguing that for anyone who has played LoA.... LoA is in it's Alpha 3 (final alpha) and is running great. The game is stable, fluid, and smooth. SotA is the spiritual successor to the Ultima Series ..... not UO.... There is a HUGE difference. SotA has it's own issues but the last two releases have been HUGE performance increases. You by no means can compare the two as UO was not the Ultima Series and Sota is not UO....
Does he develop SotA or does he just gave his name?
This is like saying Demon Souls was not Dark Souls 2 .... You do know that LoA has a good number of the developers for UO on it. Same concept. If your hung up on the name of UO2 ..... then your even wrong there.
The only UO2 that can exist is the one that EA develops as they own the IP. It's been sold.... no questions ... EA owns it.
LoA is the spiritual successor... You must play it and see that it's Identical to UO is 80% of the gameplay. The other 20 % makes up new concepts to spice up life and update the game mechanics like prestige class abilities that take X% this skill and y% that skill. They really have a great game they are developing.
My community got some keys but we did not test the game yet.
May I ask you the names of those devs who worked in Ultima Online?
That you would actually have to dig up as i am not sure their names but i was pretty sure there was mention of 2 ... the guy that made the last roundtable for Alph 2 i am pretty sure was a UO dev also.
I have great faith in LoA. At least future seams promising.
I'll check it out one day when the game is finished and fully commercial.
That’s Dr Mr Potato Head to you
I stopped paying my UO accounts in 2010, after not logging in for almost 18 month, I figured "why waste my money" on an "old" game that wasn't going anywhere...
This video show's me some pretty poor graphics, that are quite dated with it's isometric view... Not very impressive, IMO... I will pass, thanks...
UO2 died long ago... Long live SotA in its place!
Derek "Supreem" Brinkmann and Tim "Draconi" Cotten
I would like to play a game similar to UO with Divinity Original Sin 2 visuals, I still have nightmares with Third Dawn expansion.
About LoA, lack of artists its obvious, but its normal, programming> art for first dev passes.
I remember the day I saw these videos like it was yesterday. Loved the animations and music. They used motion capture back in the days for this project. I wont compare the skeleton animations with some other games.. well.. the power of money by EA
None of them worked with original UO team (Origin). Derek started in 2004 (at this time EA had all the control) as Software Engineer and Tim with Stygian Abyss expansion, in 2009.
Nothing bad but for me best UO years comes from Origin Systems. The UO I met after Third Dawn expansion is something I prefer to forget
