I never saw anyone dupe an item in UO so I never took much notice of that talk.
I agree bugs and exploits should be reported and I don't believe UO was ruined by people exploiting glitches and cheats.
UO was ruined because EA went so far off track, had no direction and were extremely greedy.

The thing I hated about UOAssist is that they charged for it while other programs that did essentially the same things remained banned. What they should have done was add more complex macro capabilities into the game itself if they were going to allow them. I'd rather see all third party apps be banned and macro keys be worked into the game, but not enough to make it easy or automated.

I hear you and agree the UI should be advanced enough so that we don't need any third party programs.
I was unsure about the legality of UOA because similar programs were banned. Were EA in on the UOA deal somehow?

There is no way they can stop unattended macroing. Its impossible to identify. Just because someone doesn't want to talk to you it in no way means its unattended macroing.

As a kid I adjusted the Windows 98 accessibility options and jammed something in my keyboard - assigned spirit speak to that key and when I got home from school I had 100 Intelligence. The same for hiding and 100 dexterity. Strength was a little more difficult and I had to use EZ Macro and arms lore.

In the later releases they did add macroing in and banned UO assist.

I used UO Assist last week on Oceania? Worked fine. I'm not sure its banned.
Penny and Dimes? Clearly I was not tech savvy like you guys because I used a table fork :)

Hmm. Very interesting. I take that back. I looked at the UO assist page and it is still available and being updated. Now where did I misplace my key.

You used to be able to hide 100% of the time even with 0 skill as long as you were in a public house. I recall trying to sell my gazer statue and the dude was like "brb ill get the cash" next thing I see "Kal Ort Por" and he disappeared but no recall sound. Im not stupid though and I know that game. He was just waiting for me to unlock the gazer. A detect hidden made him visible and he stuttered something stupid.

    Good times :)

I was once told that you used to be able to call counselers and kill them and even loot their robes. Was I being lied too??

Sounds like BS mate. I have never seen or heard of it. Thats not to say it never happened though :)

I saw an OSI employee in a forest North West of Britan in full bone armour before it had been released. I was younger and nicer then and we exchanged greetings but I really regret not murdering her and taking that armour :)

I did get a screenshot though. Impressive armour.

I thought this thread would be a fun read :) but it turns out its just a bunch of undecipherable jargon that makes no sense to someone with no experience in UO :)

I use to take advantage of people who advertised there ICQ/AIM/YAhoo messenger usernames on there house signs. If the house was unlocked, i would hide in the house and contact them about the nice dye tub, plant, painting, etc. they had in there house and ask if they would like to sell it for an obscene amount of gold. But also tell them i didn't have much time, so if they could hurry up and meet me at Brit bank i would buy it from them. I cant tell you how many times people will hurry up, recall to there house, run in and unlock the black dyetub i was hidden next to just to let me scoop it up and recall out fast. I wish i would have kept those message logs.

Oh that's evil!! But I think it's a part of the game nonetheless. I've scammed and been scammed before. I once created a female character and seduced some guy into thinking I was a real woman (who hasn't!?). He co-owned me to his home, and I looted the whole thing. Took me like 6 months to get to that point though. I did feel bad about it later.
