I just heard from a UO:F admin that Lord British would be making an appearance on the UO:F server (UO freeshard). Has anyone else heard about this?
Yes I've been hearing about this for some time now as I play there. I don't know if the event has already happened or not, but UOF did promote it very well! As a matter of fact, when I heard about this event coming soon, I came here pledged and joined SotA as a Knight. It's my feelings that, that particular shard has had many things happen in it, that the pay shard dims by comparison. Ultima Forever, SotA for the future. I think the 2 games compare, but do not stand as having much in common other than their lineage... Lineage.. that was a nice game to but far different in many ways. UO Forever needs to live and all others must die after SotA launches... Vas~Kal~An~Mani~In~Corp~Hur~Tym! ~Time Lord~
Thought they frowned on freeware/emulator servers, least that was my experience on some other threads? Still, as others have said, would be a decent way of drumming up more SotA press.
They did a drop-in on UO: Second Age, a free shard, back in January. Possibly received a request to do the same in UO: Forever, or decided it went so well they might as well do it again.
To drum up support in the form of free publicity. Along the same lines as the Pantheon kickstarter crossover. Pretty sure the only thing those two games have in common is their genre.
Hail all adventurers, LORD BRITISH himself (Richard Garriot, original creator of Ultima Online and the Ultima Series) will be visiting us tonight in game from 6PM - 7PM EST! You won't want to miss this, an event will also be included as part of this fun. More information here: http://uoforum.com/threads/coming-soon-lord-british-himself-richard-garriott-de-cayeux.26008/ Regards, Ultima Online Forever Team ------------------------------------------------------------- There ya' go ~Time Lord~
Well, that kicks all sorts of ass. Man, that makes me nostalgic for the old UL shard that was based around Ultima 7's timeline and lore. Loads of fun
OK Houston, I've had about enough of your C%#&! You come in here all cool and stuff, being a noted contributing writer in the Dragon Press, with your fancy shamcy Ultima Trivia Web Site that includes many poem's, cool stories and fan fiction from all those great days of Ultima VII!!! I remember reading through "Beneath a Serpent Sky" and how BloodyCats totally kicked butt in writing "Two Britannian Moons"! http://web.archive.org/web/20020927083451/www.houstondragon.com/ I challenge you to enter the Valentines Day Poetry Contest and then we'll see who's "Boss" around here! (I was a fan of yours back then) See ya' at the Poetry Contest if you dare! It's great that Lord British made the trip to UOF and I hope he visits many more free shards before SotA Launch' in Oct... which is always coming faster than we'd ever think... ~Time Lord~
