The threads I've been seeing regarding ideas and thoughts for our mount system have really been making me think. I found these videos of the Unity System Assets regarding horses and even Carts and more oh my. Not that we are a cowboy game on the first one but truly they do make it look fun how these assets work. So dream some more with me community.

We are not at this time getting flying mounts but who know if the game got funded to that level of participation then perhaps anything is possible, well that the engine can handle. So here are different mount types of Unity Assets from the horse system.

A few from the other thread I really liked:

Mounts are not just for riding. There is more to it for many MMO players and gamers. They can carry things. They can something you show off. They can be used in Jousting matches or horse racing.

Perhaps pack animals walk on the map to carry extra loads for us.

Ok well I started ideas for mounts. *cheers*

Thanks for this thread, @majoria70! There are so many possibilities for a system that seems simple. I really hope that one day it will actually be developed for the game.

My question would be why on earth do they need 250,000 to develop something as basic as mounts when clearly the tech is available already ? Makes no sense whatsoever to me.

If I was feeling uncharitable I might even suggest that such a thing was a total rip off...

We really don't need WALLS of PICs from other games to show how mounts or fishing should look in SotA. If you want it implemented than fork up the rest of the goal money than you can have whatever damn mount you want. Until then leave the wall of pictures on your own computer. This isn't everyone's first MMO we know what other have.

Whoops not sure why I wrote that - will blame the lack of coffee first thing in the morning !

Still think 250k is a bit steep though and they do need much better items to purchase if we they are ever going to stand a chance of reaching it.

I enjoy all the images, its exactly what the devs do when they are brainstorming... why not have a little fun with canvasing al the different options we might like to consider. We really don't need to patronise people about if they have played other MMO's or not. If many images in a post is offensive to you, then hit that back button before they all load.

And how big of the people continuing their comments on other forums, but heading into player shaming and conversations about psychological conditions. We are here to enjoy the open development of a game. Shame on anyone who would rather their focus be on player shaming and bullying.

I really like the carriages. Would be great to get a little hands free eventually and travel to a scene edge while looking out of one of their windows.

Interesting post @majoria70! I and many others enjoy these posts. Keep them coming.

That's only like $500 per active member to ride a horse...in a video game...that is in every other video game....

Not a fan of stretch goals for basic stuff.

The mounts are already pictured in the stretch goals and they come from the Unity store. Showing random pictures of other games horses does not do anything towards having mounts in Sota. And if people want more varieties they should pay more to the goal rather then just sticking random pictures on the forums.

There's nothing wrong with brainstorming various creatures and implementation possibilities. Discouraging other members of this community is also nonproductive. Clicking on this thread is optional remember.

    @Marjoria70
Give the team 10 or 20 years, to develop content like these amazing screenshots you have shown....

Let's hope the Devs, firstly concentrate on the New Player Experience & fixes on quests, so we can get some New folks in game....

Good things come, to those Who wait :p

20 years just to implement mounts and mount interactable 3D models? (carriage etc).

I would guess 2-3 years tops.

They revealed the 1st stretchgoal for Episode 2 (mounts) in Release 55 Livestreem on July 6, 2018.
Until now - in only three months - they collected over 50.000.

Episode 2 will be launched (I don't know, not talking about early access!) may be end of 2019.
I suppose they will make the missing 200.000 - or at least mid or end of 2020.
I remember telethons with 80.000 in just one day!
    Time will tell ;)

I could be wrong but I believe a chunk of what has been raised so far was rolled over from it's original stretch goal period for Episode 1 - maybe like $30k or something, but don't know for sure the exact amount, I believe it's a fairly significant portion though. So it's slow progress. One option of course would be to add some additional horse / mount themed items for purchase in that area of the store. There's all kinds of things that could be added from horse / mount themed paintings, to additional decoration pets, hay bales, decorative brass horseshoe tacks for placing on walls and what have you. Will it ever get us to that big ask of $250k though? Hmmm I don't know. Maybe it will crank up at some point, but it's very slowgoing presently.

It's a pity as I think it would be in the games interest to get this tech up and running, in terms of future success and helping to pull more people in who expect this as a basic feature in an MMO in this day and age (but I understand there are reasons why we don't have it in the game as it stands - money only goes so far I know), and also ultimately in Portalarium's interest too as it will likely provide an additional continual revenue stream in terms of store purchased mounts and other customisation options and paraphernalia in relation to those mounts, and that could range from a whole array of potential mount types (horses, bears, wolves, llama's etc.) and many variations of each of those types (patterning, colours, sizes, breeds etc), but things like decorative barding and maybe even heraldry on that barding, and carts, wagons and coaches and suchlike. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Black Desert Online for one or two reasons, though it's not uninteresting and does have some nice features like when you first see people with horses and carts / wagons / coaches freely travelling around the place - it's impressive stuff - perhaps a stretch too far for this game technically? But looking at the above videos I don't know, definitely something I would personally love to see in SotA in some shape or form either way.

Hopefully the team will have a think about what they can do to get us over the line in the coming months. People love having mounts not only for faster travel, but also as a way to further extend and customise their avatar in the world and express their individuality, just as they do with wearables. And I'd wager most games that have microtransactions available do very well in terms of wearables, enough to pay for the art and tech and then some I would have thought.

As an aside, I really like the idea of having horse and wagons / carts in the game, and maybe using the attached vehicles to deliver goods/shipments across Novia for coin (perhaps with a heightened chance of being jumped on by tougher bandits on the map - who instapop on you and draw you in - if you're on one of these missions), or perhaps NPC escort missions across the map (both mounted and on foot) again for coin and again with a heightened chance of being jumped on.
