There are a lot of options, and it takes players a long time to figure out they exist/what they mean.

For instance, there was recently a post by another player who didn't realize they can turn off quest hints and markers.

How about a setup wizard during the tutorial:

    • Would you like hints, sparkles, and compass indicators for quests?
    • Would you like names to be translated from Runic into your language?
    • Would you like to see numbers on health and focus bars, or just the bar?
    • Would you like to see the names of NPC's even if you haven't asked them yet?
    • Do you want "Words of Power" to show up in your chat window when you cast spells?
    • Do you want larger nameplates and chat bubbles?
    • Do you want double tapping movement keys to cause you to combat roll?
    • Do you want to auto roll for all loot when in a party that has rolling enabled?
You can always change these later, just go into Options -> Interface and Options -> Controls (why auto roll is in controls instead of interface I have no idea).

Not only does this help the players customize before starting, it also lets them know the options exist. Thus, if they find they don't like something, they are more likely to go dig into the interface and see if they can change it, and thus have a much better experience.

Great idea - I hope it will be included in the new player tutorial :)
