    My one concern is we will eventually need more than a thread to keep track of publishers. I do very much like the idea but would also like to propose an addition.

    To revise an old idea here I'd recommend to authors to incorporate something similar to the above. For example..

    <publisher ID(your 5 digit number reserved here>-<genre ID><book ID>

    So if I were to publish something with this system I'd add a print number or something similar so it might look like this..

    00101-NF01A-01

    01 one being a first edition or first printing.
