Usefulness of Lightning Storm?

How useful is Lightning Storm now?

 

I'll assume not very useful, by the lack of response.

 

Or just try it yourself? And see what you think.

i guess usefulness depends on how you utilize it. i primarily use it for its stunning but it is a decent damager as well. it doesnt compare to chain lightning for damage but it does hit a very large number of mobs and keeps them stunned. if i want maximum stun i try to cast it again once the lightning circle goes away instead of relying on the pulses to keep them stunned. i used to have it in all my decks but when they updated the fizzle now its just on my mage/bard decks. it is in my main combat summoner/bard deck along with atonal, stag, and chain lightning so use it very regularly.

 

Looking at the CC part of the skill, it's basically chosing mini stuns that will raise mob CC resist to 100% very quickly over longer, single stuns.

It pretty much kills body slam and bludgeon users' utility.

Usefulness? Probably when you're too crowded by mobs and need some breathing space to drink a potion or refresh defensive skills while kiting.

 

As an archer, I find it extremely useful when playing solo and facing multiple mobs. It stuns and stops melee enemies from reaching me so that I can kite them and pick them off. It does not seem to interrupt archers and casters as effectively, as they generally don't need to move much and they are able to cast most of the time. It does seem to do decent damage. And I have found that some mobs are affected more than others.
