wands and staffs

    im a little disappointing with wands, today is the first day i tried one and was expecting a ranged ball of energy as a default attack but it was simply being used as a melee weapon. in my option a ranged attack would be way cooler. atm im not sure why anyone would equip a wand over a real melee weapon.

    It use to do that for few releases. Was really cool but now there just their for the additional spell dmg.

    It’s real funny to think that hitting someone I’ve the head with a twig is considered bludgeon.

    maybe they should convert it back so there is more of a demand for wands and staffs

    Pretty much everyone is using wands I thought because they are ridiculously good.

    I know I am.

    Why would you be surprised that hitting someone with a stick is considered bludgeon, but not surprised if a stick shot a ball of glowing magic out of it?

    I found a staff really good fun to beat the stuffing out of things with while also casting spells.

    The only thing that is a shame is that there are not way more patterns for staffs.

    To really make wands useful for physical attacks, what skills do I need to pick up? I am using a staff now and it hits normally up to 22 points of damage where a want is 10 I believe?

    I may use two wands instead if I pick up some way to attack physically with both. Thanks in advance.

    I wield 2 thaumaturgy wands when I switch to my healing spec. I'm not going to do damage when healing a group since it makes healing less effective.

    What about a balance for staves, they are useless because 2 wands are allways better.

    I switched out my staff for a bow. I see no benefit to them compared to using archery with magery.

    I switched from by bow to a staff for the bludgeon stun and knock downs while my obsidian bear and my magic Together kills them. :)

    Interesting you went the opposite way.

    Sadly my ice magic doesn't do enough damage on it's own to keep me alive. The damage supplement of a bow makes it work. I added Air as well so now I have slows (as mediocre as they are), stuns and damage to balance my build.

    I was using a stave on a heavy armour guy so I could use bludgeon as well as cast spells. I think they do have a place, but they need more crafting options. And patterns. Many many more patterns. For everything. More patterns please.

    P.S can we please get reshape from recipe rather than just pattern.

    Staves and Wands reduce fizzle chance and reagent usage. Two wands gives you more bonus from enchantment and masterwork as one stave, thats why everyone uses two wands. Also, staves and wands do have magic related enchantments and masterwork.
    You can train your offhand to do more melee damge with the weapon in the offhand.

    Personally, I wont damage my precious wands by bashing monsters with them, the damage is neglible compared to spells. For the longest time, wands and staff melee damage was 0-1 so I guess I'm just used to hitting things with them being pointless. I do have a staff I fiddle with if I feel like whacking stuff, or, a giant hammer (and suit of armor) if I feel like doing the full bludgeon routine.

    Melee damage is maybe 1, but not with Bludgeon base skill, at 80 it's 20 base damage.

    1 stave should be as strong as 2 wands regarding boni and attunement they give.
    Simple as that
