Though the game is pretty much like Pokemon in that you weaken the mobs then catch them in a pokeball (ahem collar and whistle)

I'd prefer Ultima critters vs UO.. UO had some wacky stuff that never appeared in Britannia anywhere else.

Yeah, please no orcs. Generic fantasy blah. Plenty of more original creatures they can bring back, and still have the Ultima vibe. But really, we need more real animals, both wild and domestic, to round out the economy before we worry about rare monsters.

And please in the name of any god who is listening:

No more parallels to Ultima or Ultima Online.
The hardcore Ultima-Fan-Boys cost us so much in the last few month...

Almost every bad review had the word "Ultima" in the first two sentences.
I can not hear it anymore. I have never played any of the Ultimas
    - and now hate it anyway because of all the grumble -
and hearing "this and that were better in Ultima..."
please - please - go and play Ultima -
This is not an Ultima HD clone or a remake.

You do know "Lord British" is the literal same character as the one from UO, right? Not figuratively, not a second gen, cousin or clone, but the same exact character... You knew this, right?

Not to mention Moongates, the specific reagent selection and several PoTs referencing UO (Yew and Catskills off the top of my head).

And Ultima. ;) Except Yew isn't a player owned town. There has been a town called Yew since Ultima I, I believe.. and at least since Ultima III.

Oh and there's the whole virtue system.. right out of Ultima.. the Novia map is based on the Lands of Lord British.. Ultima I and III...and let's not forget the solar system.. from Ultima V etc.. etc.. :)

Orcs are available in the Unity store so we could see those at some point.

The funny thing is that there are aspects of SotA that are better than any of the Ultimas but nobody ever talks about those.

Yep. Totally agree. I think that SOTA's challenge is that its 'brand' draws from Ultima fame/notoriety, where a large potentially interested audience played Ultima Online and moved on to other games leaving Ultima Online players as a fraction of the market. The challenge is to bring back a potentially vast audience after all these years, while still pleasing the crowd whose been around forever and in some respects drove that audience off. Its an interesting business branding and game feature balancing conundrum that would make for a fun MBA paper.

    New monsters and stuff?

The story line has the Obsidian Order creating many things with their magic. I would hope that we could find the information of their experiments ourselves and create weird stuff.

We have Obsidian chips, some kind of chaos pollen, seeds and farming ability.

    Mutant Plants anyone?

not to nitpick but I think it was the obsidian cabal that did things with the magic. The obsidian order was the army and did not use magic. The cabal where the magic users. *bows out* I could be wrong as it has been a couple years since I read the story.
