What Happened to Character Names Overhead?

I can't get characters' names to appear over their heads anymore, either before I talk to them or after I get their names. Nothing appears. I've gone over the options menus over and over, and reset the game several times, but I get nothing. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? This seems like such a basic thing, and it really shouldn't be so hard to figure out, especially for new players.

 

Press N (I mistakenly hit this key all the time and turn it off)

If that doesn't help, search through your game settings for the flag that shows character names overhead.

 

To avoid such mistakes, I've put many of the keys behind the Ctrl key (e.g. N -> Ctrl-N). These include N, M and all the keys that might accidentally bring up a window in the middle of combat. Works like charm.

 

Well i am having the same issue. I checked game settings and still get no Names over NPCs head and such. Kinda creepy running around and not seeing names. Didnt know i was in the World of the Faceless

 

There is a config setting under Game I believe that hides the NPC names. I think it defaults to checked... Uncheck it.

 

Yeah i went in and clicked it off then back on again. Works fine now. LOL. That is the one thing i didnt try. LOL. Hey give me a break I have had a rough two weeks. I became a grandma last friday so my world has been topsy turvy. But loving every minute. Cant wait for final wipe so i can start making money and getting my spot in this crazy world.

This happened to me, too. I pressed "N" and the names came back. Why is this even an option?!?! And why isn't it documented anywhere?

I like this game, and what the developers are trying to accomplish, but I swear, I feel like I'm fighting the software more than I'm fighting in-game enemies.
