I never got into UO; joined up 6 months ago so I could get my head around online gaming. So I'm going on my experience of the Classic Ultimas. I always seemed to come down on the side of Compassion when doing the gypsy reading, and Britain, the centre of the world and home of Lord British, was where I would always return to and probably identify most closely with.

Cove is always have a bit of a soft spot for me...........

I started Ultima Online near cove. It was the location of my first single room plaster house which took forever to save for. Also it was the first time I was killed while chopping wood out in the forest.

And who can forget the orc camp? one of my favorite places to kill monsters for gold......however also a magnet for all the murderers.

Memories of hiding at the farm on Jhelom, waiting for unsuspecting players who we're killing animals. I protected the animals at that farm, and they loved me for it.

    @kiamzonm,

Its fully how there's a pile of skulls next to a larger pile of bones, as if the orcs are in the process of sorting out the bones into different piles for collecting purposes.

I said Magincia. It was the first city I got to know so I usually used it as my quick go to. Man the bank was epic lol. I loved all the activity going on around me. Some people making chairs, guilds meeting to bank and then on to their adventures, etc. So much life all in one place. It was amazing!

Vesper was a great 'balanced' location. Once you got to know the bridges around town it was a very practical 'home base'.

You would think one of these cities from the old kingdom would make it into shroud of the avatar. Does anybody know if well have any locations from Ultima Online or the single player series?

On Ultima 7, I did like seeing the lands of Danger and Despair with Montor, Fawn, and that other mage city.

Although frequently making Vesper on Great Lakes my regular stop for town merchants, and player vendors outside the gates... I just had to vote for Yew as my favourite. First login, first run screaming through Britannia trying to learn my way...first death to a bunny rabbit... priceless memories ! :D Even afterwards there was the fun of Kazola's tavern, and the Yew Militia often made the surrounding area hilarious and interesting.

It really all depends on which game we're talking about but I voted Moonglow overall.

    E.g. in:
U5 - I loved Minoc...who doesn't want free Skeleton Keys? And it was the place where I figured out my first mantra and power word.
U4 - Britain - not really sure why
    U7 - Bucaneers Den...who doesnt' love a good brothel? I mean...um...I like gambling.
Serpent Isle - not a 'town' per se but I just loved Furnace. It was our first really in depth look at Ophidian city-style planning
UO - didn't play it much given my lack of a reliable connection at the time, but I'd vote Yew.

I used to roleplay a cursed feral half-orc that would wander between Minoc and Cove with just a Kryss and various meats, leathers & gems in my pack. There were a few welcoming player villages in those areas at the time, and it really helped to spur the new players into roleplaying!

My favorite city/area, however, is the warm & welcoming Skara Brae! I love the ferry ride 'cross, the maze to the south, brigands & hostages to the southeast, and the giant spider spawns at the island's peak.

In the Britannia-based Ultima games, my favorite city was usually Britain, just because it was so large and I liked the atmosphere of a large city. Whenever I started in Britain and would venture out to see other cities, I'd get disappointed on seeing how small they were. Such as in Ultima VI... even in Ultima VII, where Trinsic was a decent enough size, and they you get to Britain, which was huge... but then you get to the other Britannian cities and they're a letdown. Jhelom, Minoc, Moonglow... they were so tiny.

Hahah I remember on Chessy there was a pack of orcs that were role players like this that took me forever to figure out they weren't actually NPCs.

Hmm I used a ton of names back then - Kadumel, Terk Strongarm, N'gok, Jocal Rynge, Griffter, and probably about 50 more. I played since about a year after beta and continued for about 7 years so who knows : )
