I have brought this up before (not in a hugely long time), and Lord British himself assured me they would be included...

but where are the classic Ultima creatures? The ones that made our universe unique, and unlike every other fantasy trope out there. I have seen a couple (literally like 2, the wisp and the mimic). But that's about it.

    Im talking:

    Rotworms
Gazers (yes i know they are based off of something else)
    Headlesses
    Corpsers
    Ettins
    Reapers (one of my favorites)
    Gargoyles
    Sea Serpents
    Tangle Vines
    Cyclopses

Of course yes I know not all of these originated with ultima, but they are still rare for fantasy games.

Gazers would be hard to implement without infringing the Ultima IP, so I don't expect we will see them. I'd rather have mechanical gazers for the Oracle than the ugly flies she currently has tho.

I'd love to see all the others. Remember we are only seeing a small portion of the world. They have claimed that each expansion will double the adventuring space, so Episode 2 will feature a continent the same size as Novia, Episode 3 will feature one twice as big, etc. We will need more creatures to fill in those regions!

Its funny u picked out that one, i would assume it would be the easiest... since gazers were essentially beholders from D&D

Yes, but beholders are actually part of the D&D IP, and they crack down pretty hard on anyone who uses them now. Ultima got away with it because it was in place well before WotC got sue-happy. Plus, they were changed enough to be somewhat unique, which is what EA would jump on now.

The same issue would be with Mind Flayers. Notice that after Ultima I, the Mind Whippers never came back...

There was a headless mask in the add on store at one time.

Find a PVPer who has one on and KILL THEM! I think that works for the headless. ;)

I know I will get burned now but I thought most of the creatures are pretty generic....

Actually, I don't disagree. For the most part, the creatures are extremely generic. From the Roadmap:
For the most part, the implementation of them is what is unique. The dragon and elves are pretty stylized. You don't see a lot of automations in other fantasy games. Etc.

But I try to think of this more as the "baseline" for monster population than the end point. SotA is a 5-episode release of a single game. Things will continue to be added, and that will diversify a lot of the world. But to get to release for Episode 1, you need a lot of generic to build on.

Actually, they got away with it because they called them gazers and not beholders. ;)

They're already in-game. They're called imps and they're in Owl's Head sewers and also a pledge reward pet for barons.

Imps are in many games. Mongbats were fat little annoying little bats that walked around and claw you for 1 health.

I was talking specifically about homunculi, as described in Blade of the Avatar.

I didn't get the impression that imps and homunculi are the same creature.

Look at the picture you posted then look at imps in the game. Also, when I read the description in the book, I thought "exactly like an imp...."

Furry brown monkey-looking thing with wings, compared to a red demonic beast? Hmm, ok. Why give them different names? Why limit them to only pledge rewards? Doesn't make sense.
