Which enemies (where) are dropping Crowns of the Obsidians?

I got 22 cotos since persistence, most of then in undead creatures and 2 from mining

 

Perhaps we do not know the mechanics of these drops. For example, rather than an RNG roll on every loot, perhaps the roll is on a monthly basis on each player. Aldo...month of March roll...no Coto schedued this month regardless of kills recorded. Just saying.

Now the actual drop 'rate' I haven't found, and it is also changing potentially on a weekly basis (not as likely any more but it used to be) then the rate isn't as important as the comparatively likelyhood.

But let's assume a one in a 10 million chance. Then with a *2 per tier it would work out like this:

t2 … 0,0000002
t3 … 0,0000004
t4 … 0,0000008
t5 … 0,0000016
t6 … 0,0000032
t7 … 0,0000064
t8 … 0,0000128
t9 … 0,0000256
t10 … 0,0000512

Now mind you I don't think it is linear like that but rather some hyperbolic curve which diminish vs some set target.

 

I have 400+ hours played. I've mined probably 50k ore. I'm AL 72 and PL 62. I'm mining and fighting in T5 exclusively.

I have never looted a crown of any kind...my luck stinks I guess.

 

I got them from time to time with hardened/elite Skeletons.
Also never with mining! Don't be sad

 

I've gotten crowns of various types on:
Obsidian Wolves (DRW)
Obsidian Bears (DRW)
Hardened/Elite Skellys (DRW and The Rise)
Barbarians (Ulfheim at the center camp)
Kobolds (K'rul - think it was from a gunner, not certain though)
Mining nodes (gold, silver and copper nodes from various mines)

I'd say they are rare, but not extremely rare and can drop from just about anything.

 

I got one from Hilt this week; first one I've seen in months.
