Why can't I put a small fountain on stone blocks?

I want to place a small fountain on top of some blocks but I can't. Why? I can't place planting pots or planting barrels there either. Why?

These kinds of arbitrary restrictions really make decorating suck.

 

A good point but I'd hate to see a large fountain on a single block or a large fountain sitting on a stack of single blocks.

Not sure how the fountain would know that all parts of its base is completely touching blocks but if they can make this happen it would be great.

 

I suspect that you can only place something on top of something else iff the area on top is >= the area of the base. So instead of several small blocks, one big block may be required. Or at least a single piece made up of multiple blocks instead of multiple pieces.

 

Even if a larger block is used it may not work. You cannot place a piano on any size block, even if the block is larger than the piano. I found this out when making a stage in our tavern. You also cannot place pavers or rugs on top of blocks to cover them. Added note - You can't place blocks in POT space.

Blocks are great, but their limitations are frustrating.

 

There are numerous restrictions that are not making any sense and I hope we can do the many common sense things before the retail launch of the game.

 

This is what I was trying to do.

 

I tried to put the large Ankh or wall candle above the doorway of my 4 story stone home but it wouldn't work, but yet I can hang a torch there. I think we should be able to "hang" certain items on the side of the house (inside and outside).
