    As title says.
I would like to know several things:
    1.) who requested it
    2.) why
3.) how are you going to handle that
4.) willl you funnle the newbies into your guilds
5.) which technical tools were you given to handle that

    Thanks.

    Edit:
Will update main post with answers if i ever get them.

    Edit2:
What we have got so far.
    - The Outlander Guild will come
    - @Berek will be the Guild Master and take care that everybody plays by the rules
    - that rules are still object of discussion
    - The Guild is basically an Experiment in player Retention and according to @dallas will be monitored closley by Port
    - who actually requested it is still somewhat foggy. Seems like it wasn't requested at all but just an idea from Port to Support the effort of the Hospitallers.
    - reason why it will be created is obvious

    - The multiguild idea is no multiguild idea! @dallas just missnamed the upcoming Guild Alliance system
    - no Details on this one so far

@Berek feel free to correct me where I am wrong please.

Agreed. Some/most of the decisions made are unexplained to the greater "crowd funded game" people. Good Luck Earl, you will just get "crickets back". I have asked many times for answers to questions like these only to be severely disappointed yet again. We are in the "CONE of SILENCE".

    I will be honest:
Most things i stoped careing about due to different reasons. Communication being one of them.

But THIS might turn out as game breaking. THIS really smells like favourism if you see it from the outside.
I am sure the intentiions where good....but....the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

As i first read it i was like: "Oh ok...why not."
But after thinking about it several times i am like: "WTF how could this idea EVER make it past the devs!?"

There's a weekly new player meeting that happens on Sundays - folks interested in new player goings on should try and attend - so far as I know, it's an open meeting.

How did you come to a conclusion that the mega outlander guild was requested by hospitallers? (I'm a bit out of the loop here)

When you think of the other neutral options in terms of flagging new players......one has to wonder how this became the desired route.

    Indeed.
EvE has starting guilds too but they are NPC.
The biggest guild that helps newbies is the EvE University and they recuite their new members as everybody else by advertising. It didn't do them any harm.

The hospitallers usually go out of their way to try and make sure their activities are neutral and fair. But, I agree.. this could have some pitfalls. Spamming by gold sellers and guild recruiters, de facto global chat, etc etc etc.

I don't understand the problem. I think it could have been handled with a /newbie chat channel that everyone is subscribed to. I don't think people are going to be eager to stay in the "newbie" guild for too long.

    Probably not.
And then they get directed into the Hospitallers guilds in the worst case.
Andd exactly that might be the problem.
Beside the fact that we get a global chat through the backdoor.

This is the weekly Hospitaller meeting where things like a new player guild would be discussed - earlier this year there was message started for folks to participate in and communicate directly with Devs about ideas to get new players involved. Things like sotahelp.org were born from it... the thread can get a little spamy from time to time, but for the most part it's really helpful and full of good ideas on how to get new players more drawn into existing communities and active in SotA.

Yes that's all cool and stuff but things like a global newb guild should be discussed here and not in a meeting, be it free to attend or not.
This forum should be the main tool for communication.
I didn't see a single post asking about this topic before this one and now it's basically too late.
And people are still suprised that favouritism is the main bashing argument vs. SotA? Ouch.

sounds very cultish. Why do people need to be "drawn into" community events and such. Why cannot it be organic?

Thanks for the verification. I'm curious about the inspiration behind this request as well. Although the hospitellers are not exclusive club since anyone can just drop in the meeting and chime in to talk about how can they help getting new players to start and enjoy the game experience, I do not think there is a intent harm or favoritism here.

The forum sometimes isn't an effective tool of communication compare to verbal. People can misinterpret the tone on the text.

As far as the implementation, it might could be as simple as getting Darkstarr or Gorn to set up a guild, then put all new players without a guild to be in it.

    Of course you are right.
But this is a pretty important desicion that was made without the biggest part of the community.
A post asking our opinion would have been nice.
I, for example, don't have time to attend to those meetings.
I could ask one of my officers to attend but why should i ask them to offer up their playtime for something they maybe don't care about in the end?
No, this clubbish stuff starts to give me the creeps.
It shouldn't go on like that.
Meetings to come up with ideas are all cool and stuff but implementing those VERY GAME CHANGEING ideas without any community feedback is just wrong.

Most of the actual hospitallers are in guilds that don't want to mass recruit. As a new player this game is extremely confusing and only a tiny % of the population helps them. At least this way they start in a chat where they can get advice.

I don't think it's cultish, Phoenix Republic, PaxLair, etc..., and a handful of solo players can share ideas directly with each other and devs like Berek and Dallas and a few others... it's actually a pretty laid back thread where ideas can be discussed.

And still they get a headstart, even if they don't want to massrecuit.
Plus: we were promised no global chat. Now we got it.
