This is all just discussion anyway, however. We are only passing along what Portalarium told us. We can't make any changes to those things, if you want to affect change, you have to take it to Port directly.

For old ones, sure...but new ones are being made all of the time. There are exceptions too. Try claiming some of the ones that are still used by modern-day nobility that having been kicking around longer than trademark laws for your own, then get famous & see what happens ;)

At what sort of level? As someone in a Commonwealth country, like me, you'd likely know how tightly the UK holds onto granting CoAs. Likewise the Republic of Ireland and other European nations.

I have no doubt there are probably businesses out there which sell new ones, the same as businesses that also sell titles, but we know both of those products are about as real and official as a two-sided coin :)

Or indeed why anyone who was in this position, and had genuine ownership of a CoA that wasn't in the public domain, simply wouldn't make up an imaginary CoA for fun, like most other folks have done here, anyway? :)

I'm not talking at that level of station. (EDIT: Well I was in in my example of where age isn't necessarily an issue - duh)

Any common Joe/Jane can design one in the next 10 mins, spend the time and money to get it registered by a trademark office and it's protected in the country of registration like any other mark.

Oh, in that sense, sure, I suppose anyone can make a logo... because that's what it would basically be. But that's not even in the same ballpark as a real heraldic item, approved by a centuries old organisation :)

I have to say I'm tired of all the folks threatening legal recourse because some tiny thing wasn't followed to the letter of the law, or they are facing some pushback for wanting a shield with the Tide logo or whatever it may be.

Many of us supported during KS; the purpose was to get the game off the ground, not feel entitled to all eternity that everything was done the way we envisioned it or that there would be no room for change.

At this point there are almost as many non-kickstarter backers anyway, the KS people will be in the minority by launch, for sure.

Excellent idea; it's the best thing that's come out of this thread, as people still have time to buy or pledge up to that $100 mark, because it will be $110 for everyone after April 7.
