Why the constant Hate to low level players

Just a reminder - Spideroad err.. I mean Kingsroad is supposed to be a one skull area (ie. level 1) but I really don't recommend new players going there until they have speed skills and the shed-aggro escape skill.

Don't take more than one spider at a time at low levels. Run like hell from a pack. I've died more times in Kingsroad than any other area.

 

I'm with Sea Bear on wishing spiders were more wothwhile to kill since they can be the death of you. They should have spider silk and useable parts for recipes. Later different types and levels of spiders should give venom that could be used in many, many fun ways, like poisons, and perhaps salves to poison weapons etc or perhaps venom pudding anyone I avoid the spiders to raise my skills. In owls nest as Asclepius says just try to avoid them and run past them to the cave entrance.

 

The ones in my backyard appreciate the positive PR but strongly disagree ...

 

I'm sure this is true, but I was only killed once (the very first time I entered the Owl's Nest scene) because the mobs took me by surprise. It is easy for me (klutzy Kara) to enter the scene and run immediately up the hill before the bear and spiders can kill me. I hadn't been there for a while so I just tried it again to see if it is more difficult than it used to be, and it isn't. I made it up the hill and into the cave with almost no damage at all.

 

Just make them worth messing with ...

Have them drop something that sells for ~30 per unit.

 

Hmmm poison and explosive trap boxes with one hit crit attack that is craft able, just like in the good ole days with a lot more bite. We're talking big enough to wipe out a 5 player party that is standing within say a 10 step radius of each other.Lets make them dangerous to build and super destructive. Blow a city size house to the ground

 

Guess I am a bit off track but the poison reminded me of those old UO TRAPS

 

Maybe add a 30 min death timer to them to totally ruin yours or someone else's night

Yes, but they have to compete with the drop bears and chaos toads.

 

Oh, you're australian. That spider is probably the tamest and least dangerous creature in your backyard.

 

Aggro in general seems a little intense. I walk two feet into the woods and get mobbed by a bear two wolves and a pack of spiders.

I swear all these animals are in cahoots just waiting for me to walk in!

 

Spider's viewing (aggro) range is intense. Although it's nice to be on the edge of your seat !!

 

I hate them little Bas..... too. Now that I'm level 42 it doesn't matter that they come at you 5 at a time and keep you webbed. Had to wait that long just to harvest cotton and wood. Take em out of the game lol... I hate spiders even in real life. Smash the crap out of em.
Yeah... at the most there should only be 2 in a pack of them. They are way to powerful for a lvl 1 to 20. Unless someone gave you a complete set of White Iron armor crited and a constantan two handed sword.

 

Dang it... now that you are on to them they are going to gank you quicker. Beware the towns... they've got spies... don't trust Midge.

 

I love the spider AI, just when you think you're ok, you're rooted to the ground and 4 more show up! HA!

Yeah, it's tricky for new people. I know what I'm doing and I still get killed all the time. But it's testing, and this is something I think we can balance out pretty easily when we decide to do so.

 

Here's a crazy thought....

How about adding spider carapace to the loot table? Ya know, since it's a spider and all....

That might actually make it worth fighting them instead of avoiding them.
