    ALRIGHTY THEN . . . .

    So thread has boiled down to I can make 3 - 8 k an hour . . . who really cares . . . .

The problem is not how much you make, where you make it, the economy is completely borked because simply this . . . . IMBALANCE

they system started with flaws that where not corrected and allowed to persist and now it will take years to rebalance it out.

In the mean time all you making 3 - 8 k gold an hour will have to spend 50+ hours to buy one of the single items some players are getting 2 - 3 of an hours farming top tier critters solo.

That is what is going to kill the game, the lack of design that actually balances and deal with imbalance.

There is a HUGE amount of damage already done, and this thread is only scratching the bitter surface. Because some of the most influncial and robust early backs have already jmped ship and do not even come back in here to look.

There is a problem, it is clear there is one the developers need to nail it down and fix it . . . . . . . .

I think you keep missing the point. Someone here said that you cant make more then 4K gold an hour. I said I can make 10K gold an hour in Ulfheim to prove that people can make more then 4K an hour and then you attack me that you can make more in Deep Ravenswood. But the point is that I said nothing about Deep Ravenswood and that was not the argument. I know DR can make a lot of gold, I didn't bring it up and that was not the argument. So you attacked me and are still claiming victory on the DR comments that were not even part of the argument. You are making up a totally different argument and claiming victory.

So in effect you are literally confirming my argument that people can make more then 4K gold an hour.

I assume it will balance itself in about 3-4 years, if
And thats important, if the game survives it's launch.

Actually i doubt it, but i really hope for it.

I'm just too busy in real life right now and not able to put more than 10-20 minutes per night into the game.

It would be nice if there are some extra activities that I could spend that amount of time, come back next day and still see some progress or reward. Maybe brewery could be one.

I don't play much. The performance is so bad I am not sure it is worth upgrading my hardware if the devs can't be arsed to even make a show of tightening up performance. To mention that interaction with NPCs is as painful as enduring the interface would just be piling on but it needs to be said. Lock yourselves in the basement and don't even think of embarrassing yourselves by marketing until you've fixed the performance then work on making NPCs that don't make you want to kill them by not knowing what you're talking about. Ever. Trying to tell the hunter that you killed the alpha wolf at the beginning of the game only works if you say things exactly as the quest designers would have you say them. It is not even as deep and immersive as Portalrium's bragging would suggest.

We're not negative or haters, we're just calling you on your BS.

I said i've tested today (last time in deep ravenswood was a month ago and something is changed), as i said and i can confirm loots are not level releated (Ulfeim is hardest than Deep for no death builds).
I say 5.5k max in ulfeim. For max igg i mean max igg you can do killing all and waiting respawn, after finish all mobs in the spot, so usually u can do around 4k as i said.
Maybe there is an understanding problem, i can level up as i want but when i'm farming i kill all undeads in Deep and i have to wait respawn, so there are no more mobs to kill.
I can't really understand why in your opinion if i kill more fast ( and i kill them really faster, trust me) i can make more igg, i can repeat again and again loots are not level releated.

Oh it was a fight? i didn't know that. Cool! ( Anyway someone said more levels mean more money and my affirmation was: "Loots are not level releated". This is an evidence)

    Please stop this staging xD

PS: I'm very proud, many peoples joined the pool. I'm not the only one who care about the game and new players.

A poll like this should not scare or make sad developer or people, cause the problem is not if people agree or not agree, if i like or don't like, but if they care about the game. A lot of peoples voted and i think a lot more will vote, so we must think it's positive all that, cause we have really a lot of people swho care about the game, about that game and want that game be the best and be released as the best it can be!

@2112Starman ... no point in arguing with the guy. There is a language barrier or something here. None of it is making sense, and it is probably best to just turn and walk away, I think.

The best reward right now is being one of the first to see something. I have seen some amazing things today that should blow you away next week in terms of "scenery porn". I felt like I was wandering around the woods as a kid again.

It hasn't been time to work on performance yet. You don't optimize things too early, they'll just get broken again.

Try R43 next week and see how much better it is.

Nikko, what @antrax1990x means is that no matter how high your adventurer level, how fast you farm IGG is limited by mob respawn rate. That's the limiting factor. Once you're of a sufficiently high enough level, clearing a whole scene of mobs becomes dead easy. Your farming rate is then determined by the mob respawn and mob density rate rather than how fast it takes to kill them. Cos killing the mobs is so fast, and they take so long to respawn, it means that you're restricted to the amount of loot you can get by mob respawn rates. That's why after a certain adventurer level when killing the mobs in a 5 skull zone becomes trivial, your IGG farming rate is determined by mob respawn rate. And because loot is crappy no matter how difficult a mob is to kill - 5 skull mobs drop the same crap as 1 skull mobs - it means your farming rate is determined by m0b respawn rate. This is because your underlying assumption is that loot scales with mob difficulty. This is not really true unless you're farming for artifacts, and even then, the artifact drop rate has been nerfed already.

    1. Performance
    2. Waiting until there is a sense of accomplishment and the game feels alive (in the MMO)
    3. Waiting for single-player game completion
    1. I only have an old core i3 (Clarkdale) with 8GB RAM and SSD, and I bought a GTX 750 Ti (the cheapest usable card I could afford) just to play this game. Framerates were okay months ago, but Ardoris frame rates are now too choppy on R42. And I cannot play simultaneously in SOTA with my friend who has a laptop with only 6GB RAM (maxed out and soldered to the motherboard) since it can't play the game at all, so we have to time-share my PC which takes some of the fun out of it. I am looking forward to the performance improvements in R43, since I can't afford to buy any more PC equipment.

    2. I mainly login to inspect the game features/performance and am trying to find a motivation to stay in the game longer, but it is hard to at this point. Am usually playing a different sandbox game where I built my own home and farm, where I login frequently since that world goes on without me (plants and animals have seasons and lifespans, things decay, other players change the land and drop things), and things are different each time when I return. And I can also play simultaneously with my friend, since it has lower resource requirements.

The SOTA world is too static for me so far and is instead relying on a higher density of players to add a living feel to the game, which right now feels too much like cosplayers going to a convention center.

I don't care about leveling up, money/RMT, or competing with anyone. Nor do I like to role-play, but I do enjoy living in virtual medieval worlds (gathering, crafting/building and fighting creatures). The rubber-banding of creatures bothers me, and I wish they had more autonomy.

In the meantime, I also play an occasional dungeon crawl/roguelike when I want to get that random, Ultima I/permadeath thrill and I watch a lot of MMORPG anime, through which I can live vicariously...

    3. I'm not not sure what to think about the virtue system, as I only played Ultima I (Apple II+) and UO. I will play the quests through when the single player version is complete. I did play a little bit of Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar (C64), but I didn't play long enough to understand the virtue system. But I do enjoy games that teach ethics/philosphical principles if they are done right. The Shenmue series (Dreamcast) was the first series I ever played that actually made me a better person, and I will purchase Shenmue III as soon as it is released. It was an open-world game set in retro, 1980's Japan, where the NPCs had lives and jobs. It had minigames within it, a sense of ritual time, where you woke up, left home, did things in the world, then came back home to sleep day after day as the seasons passed. And you actually had jobs in the games where you ride the bus and go to work, then get paid for doing well. The repetitive ritual provides a great baseline for teaching virtues. But it wasn't monotonous like grinding/crafting, there were slight variations, and you had a sense of accomplishment since they were structured and you worked under an NPC boss. I wonder why SOTA doesn't have vendor buildings staffed with players that work under an NPC, crafting goods for customers (player and NPC) on demand. It could be structured and you could have a set time to arrive at work without penalty, and the boss could also reward you. I know this is done somewhat in quests and can be done privately by the players, but it would be nice if the town vendors were set up this way.

Shenmue was a ground-breaking single-player game at the time, and you didn't feel that you were forced into a role (heck, you could goof off in the arcade all day if you wanted). Many of these concepts were probably pioneered by the later Ultima games, since the creator of Shenmue studied RPGs in preparation for it. I would be amazed if SOTA could pull off such a feat and don't dismiss this possibility. But I won't stay for long in the MMO side until it becomes a living, breathing world.
