I don't see a good solution to this problem...

If quests are not replayable, we will have far better game immersion which I am a huge fan of; however, we will have a content limitation problem, but what is worse, we won't be able to go back and rerun quests in order to aid and play with our lower level friends.

In my mind, playing with my friends is the single most important aspect to MMO's (why I play online) which means the quests should be replayable.

    What are your thoughts?

Better to not lump all quests together. Story based quests should not be repayable or else they have no meaning in doing them at all.

Other quests would be repeatable but more generic. Such as collecting bounties.

But repeatable content is not the same as new content. Better to give players tools to create their own events and quests.

I think that there should be player run quests in game, and we defiantly have the community to drive such things. :) All we need is people to step up and do them. Maybe in the future port can help out but we have some major braniacs here that can pull stuff out of their hats on a whim!

Helping lower level by replaying quest is a valid opinion. Althogh if SotA is going to be the game I think, which is far from 'get to max level as quickly as possible and go for raids' game, then helping low level by quest re-run is unnecessary.

Storyline should be there to be enjoyed by players without any pressure or haste, which is why singleplayer mode is available, I think.
Rather than quest re-run, how about a low level group contents that might help newbies to get accustomed to New Britannia?

Ahh that's the interesting thing about this game, it is more then an MMO. It has a very strong storyline/single player component.

There is definitely an opportunity to assist in a coop fashion to get newer players to destinations for the single player storyline spots (like to escort someone to the Necropolis door from Ardoris).

New Brittania Travelers Aid Society, anyone? :)

I agree with everything you guys are saying but at the same time, I just came off a very disappointing Elder Scrolls Online. In that very anti-social game, I spent 90% of my time not playing with my family who was in the same physical room. We never spoke or played together mainly because the quests were not replayable and we were at different stages in the game. In that sense, that is a huge failure for me.

The glory days of UO was so awesome for me just because I could get a bunch of friends together and we all go out and kill something together. I just hope we don't get too far away from that purely for the sake of immersion or else it might as well be purely single player.

If it was up to me, I would have storyline quests that comes up ever now and then that is not replayable, but also have the vast majority of the quests replayable. I know this is not new content, but having a hunting party choose between 40 quests or pvp has much more appeal than only having pvp or basic mob grinding. Just trying to make end game look a little brighter.

Regarding quests in shrouds they are not set up like your typical questing in most games out there. Perhaps you will make a discovery like find an item. Fish up a clue. Perhaps a small clue at that. You may not know for some time where this clue will lead you, that will be the surprises you'll find a long the way. Leveling and questing is not what this game is about. It will be much more special than that. Perhaps that is difficult for some to get a handle on but hopefully it can be managed. If my character actually gets cursed or poisoned by finding an item, I will be in heaven lol well hopefully I will discover the cure first. ;)

UO didn't really have much in the way of quests. What strikes me here is the lack of proactively seeking to actually play together. Games generally don't force you to play quests or advance. If you want to play together then stop doing quests that will still be there later.. and go play together. You can't really blame the game if you're all sitting in the same room playing at the same time.

Then to remark about how great UO was that everyone just got together when UO didn't have a lot of quests to begin with. (If any?) It's not quests or lack of quests (replayable or otherwise) that get in your way of playing with people you want to play with.

My frustration comes from playing ESO. In that game, you had to do the quests in order to progress your character or to earn a worthwhile amount of gold. So the game was essentially 95% questing (which you couldn't do with friends) until you got to endgame PVP. So it ended being very anti-social.

To your point, if we could downplay questing (from ESO standards) to where they are optional and you have other things to do(maybe something a little more interesting than just basic mob killing) it would solve the problem for me. However, I am far less concerned with doing something repetitive with friends as I am with not having the game mechanics to play with friends at all. How many of us spent countless hours rerunning travesty or doom with our friends but still had fun? As long as the chance of booty is there to allure me, I'm good with it.

Hi Scrolls_HD, yes I understand repetative. Tera had to be the worste I've ever seen. Gorgeous game and I loved my Beserker, but that game tried to kill you with repetitive;) We will have much more to do. It won't be kill so many elves or wolves, it will be a story line to follow and when
you complete it who knows. Clues will show up in your journal as you flesh out the story line. In the meantime you just chat with NPC's or who knows just go fishing, or treasure hunting, or hmmm perhaps a picnic or fashion show, or go do a bit of PVP perhaps a bit of bounty hunting, or perhaps do a bit of crafting. It is all up to you, it is not a level based game as I said before. It is your game to do how you like. The systems will be deep, the fishing should be pretty special or at least not just cast your line in and wait and repeat. I cannot wait, we have been told it will be R20, so yaaay I am excited.:)
