Sara and andar are, what I consider, very specialized. Now, are they weak? @Sara Dreygon, How many people did you and @Andartianna kill with just the 2 of you how many times last kill us in khali event? And we are not talking about weak players they are killing either.

I have soloed the mage room, dragon and phoenix with 38 fire attunement. I don't know about pvp but that is easy to obtain for pve.

I was for hard caps but I'm thinking I'm being converted...

I am getting more impressed with the skill allocation/xp/useage now people are getting higher in level and xp. It does show that purposeful specialization is possible with some very good results...but it costs lots xp..lots and lots..not impossible and it thus makes the rest of your builds less as good of course, but it is worth doing if you wish to specialise.

I would like to see master trainers offer more than just unlocks for the highest skills. They could possibly offer a small, challenging quest to achieve a specialization in one Circle of magic, one Martial, and/or one Strategic circle of skills. These specializations should be deeper and more substantial than a simple buff. Rather, a more dynamic and enriching commitment to focus on one circle should come with a period of time that it cannot be changed, have a cost to other circles, and be difficult/unwise to game for short-term benefit.

I'm only brainstorming here but such ideas could include a reduced experience cost for skills in that circle (and a gain to cost for all other circles), a 6th stack unlocked at GM in a skill within that circle, a title, an attunement-like mastery ability that collectively increases the effect of only that circle's skills (like more dexterity does for Air and Strength does for Earth), or even just one major archetypal benefit such as a Legendary Swordsman takes less damage from bladed attackers, a Legendary Air Mage becomes less attuned in other circles at the gain of lowered focus cost for their circle, a Legendary Tactician gains a reduction on Tactics skill cool-down time... I like to think of these as comparable to Feats that allow for a deeper customization to a play style and have a certain level of required consideration because they are difficult to change.

I also like the idea of permanent bonuses that can be unlocked and never changed. I also like the idea of making a new character by recycling 90% of the experience you have gained into a new character that can start with new, previously unobtainable perks such as attribute specialization like increased focus at the cost of health, vice versa, or more dexterity at the cost of strength, etcetera. There could be more character-defining abilities that stay with an Avatar from creation for eternity, and this could facilitate character recreation or alternate character creation.

These masteries ought to display on a paperdoll and take a long period of time, say, a week before they can be changed.

I don't claim these ideas to be perfect, but they've been bouncing around in my head over the months since I began playing with you all.

I really dig that I can develop my char however I want to. IDk I'm having a tough time understanding what the problem is. If someone wants to play a "pure" <insert it here> there is nothing really to prevent them. Does that narrow build mean they won't be able to do everything on their own? Well... DOH but that's the choice and there is nothing from stopping them from being the ubermensch in whatever category they want and then grouping with others to take down that content they otherwise could not.

Limits aren't what's gonna balance this game.. skills will.

For the life of me while I've tried to understand the OP's ask it just reminds me of something I read: "... it is like the case of a poor man who spends night and day counting his neighbor's wealth but gains not even half a coin..."

Last night a friend.. who is the exact same level as I am had to come and rez and rescue me after I died to a group of death mages.... What to do going forward? Practice...raise up the skills needed to do that content OR...group with friends who can. I can have fun either way and either way it's my choice. *Hint* I'm gonna practice....lol if 30 times falling through the same stoopid hole won't stop me I'm not gonna let some dumb resistance thing stand in my way (hush @Sara Dreygon )

Maybe another possibility is a more robust Alchemy skill allowing for resistance potions for those who don't want to raise it in other ways. Oh and make those pots expensive and require a high lvl to craft but not necessarily requiring some ridiculous super rare drops

please... the last thing we need is more wasted dev bandwidth. this is an open forum where we should be able to exchange ideas.. In all fairness... the OP somewhere in this thread accuses @Mac2 of being unwilling to compromise yet they want to call on the devs to lock the thread. kinda silly no?

I almost forgot.. PvP. Again.. caps/limits won't balance that...but a properly functioning reputation and bounty system sure would.

I think we will find out what really matters at "official launch". Until then all we can do is speculate. Right now the people that are playing the game are mostly people who have invested money into it. There are others that can play unlimited hours into it. These are the voices on the forums. When you start getting the average joe's in this game you will hear what they have to say. IMO the game is lackluster with the combat system and the RMT. This is what people are going to judge the game on, not weather we as backers think, as we are vested. If the game sucks or if its awesome will be judged by the general public after official launch.

We should all let the general public decide for us what we like or what is sublime or what is intelligent.

Exchanging ideas suppose that both sides accept a debate in good faith. Repeating the same arguments ad nauseum after it has been shown that they were invalid force people to answer the same things again and again themselves, using in your own way isolated examples that would normaly demonstrate the opposite of what you're trying to prove is an old communication trick or using erroneous numbers to defend a personal interest does not fall into the "fair" category. In fine, I don't take part into this discussion anymore. It's not like the thread is closed because everyone else can add what he want, but I wouldn't name this "exchange of ideas", personaly... At last, you can think what you want and blame me for the repeated attempts of some to systematically turn each discussion on this subject into a forum policy violation or call me paranoid, that doesn't change the facts. It's not like I'm happy with this situation. In all fairness...

I also think the public will judge it, if not already prejudiced by SotA's reputation in the www.
I really would like to see some thousands of players, but i really doubt, especially i would like to have germanspeaking roleplayers around, but that i doubt much more.
I'm using blades now, i skilled some fire to try to get a Troll down, but wait for more blade and 2 fire skills are 80.
    Also began to use Poison...
So i'm branching out more... its ok, i have fun. I'm a Mage, no Watermage, no XYZ Mage, not a Staff only Mage, but a grey Mage :)

    have fun - Stun

There are still lots of important (passive) skills that are below 80 or even below 60
