One thing from the early UO experience I look fondly at was how medieval the font looked.
Any chance of this being done in SOTA?

I loved the nice big easy-to-read font in the chat window in Release 3. If a font like the one in UO is possible, I hope it would be an optional choice - yes, it looks cool, but isn't very readable (to me, anyway).

    Speaking of fonts and "Ye"...
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share this little bit of useless trivia:

Did you know there used to be a letter called "thorn" that was sometimes drawn very similar to a lower case "y"?

And it was pronounced like "th" as used in thorn, throne, thanks.

So, a medieval person would pronounce "Ye Olde Font" as we would pronounce "the old font".

    I'll shut up now.

    For a while.

I did not know that. I took some medieval lit in college, but that one never came up. I wonder how that interacts with Shakespearean english and you/thee, which had different uses (one being formal and the other personal). I wonder if they were bred from the same word? I wish I still had access to the Oxford English Dictionary. :p

I sure do hope we get to use that font. My all time favorite!

No other game has a specialized font like they do in UO. (that I know of anyway)

It really put you in the time period. Felt a lot more authentic.

I do like that font actually. Unlike the medieval font in Ultima: Lazarus, this font is actually legible lol. I actually had to use a font replacement mod for Lazarus because it was so hard to read!

I love the old uo font, I hope there will one just as good or atleast as an alternative at release, I care more for the 'feel' than how easy it is to read tbh

I have a reconstructed version of the UO font done by one of my fellow Kingdom Reborn/Enhanced Client UI Modders if anyone wants a copy emailed to them.

I agree. While it brings back memories for me, and they're great memories, it's not a "great" font in and of itself. What I've seen in screenshots and videos from the last test looked really good, instead.

As much as they look "the olde" :p I prefer a simple font with perhaps serifs to at least make it fit with the game's zeitgeist.
An Ultima font would be a great optional thing to have though :)

Not sure if this is the exact font but it's very similar. I LOVE that UO font. TBH I can't stand that they put such a blocky one afterwards... AND defaulted to that. *blah*

Here is the link to the page. Click the Ultima font.
