Lost Vale - not on new 11 hour schedule?

    I am in The Lost Vale right now the gate opened at 12:00 noon Central (1:00 pm for me eastern) 9/8/18

    Lost Vale appeared at Sun 9/9/2018 12:09am Eastern (Sat 9/8/2018 11:09pm Central) - which is 1 hour off the List 2 time of: 2018-09-08 10:00 PM

    So now we have sightings of Lost Vale from both List 1 and List 2...

    I highly doubt that Lost Vale is showing up for times on both lists. It's more likely that it's a combination of people are playing offline (at which point they are not using the Server's time), they are not properly recording which hour window, or there is some timezone mixup. I logged in Wed/Thurs/Fri during work hours corresponding with times from list 1 and list 2 - and I only found the gate open during times from list 1.

    I'll be out next week but I'll see about quadruple checking when I get back. Regardless; this is precisely why we created the orb so the chaotic nature of the gate would be a bit more bearable =)

    @Undone It's following the original 28h rotation but it's also open 11 hours from that schedule and again 11 hours after. Obivously after that it's again open according to hte 28h schedule.

    *EDIT* To clarify, this means it always open on the 2nd, 13th and 24th according to in game time.

    Again I am in the Lost Vale it opened up at 11:00 am eastern time, I am not offline, I live in VA and that is on eastern time. 9/9/2018

    Sun 9/9/2018 - 11:14am Eastern (10:14am Central) - 1 hour off from List 2 9am Central time.

    I'll track it one more time this afternoon for the List 1 2pm time, and then I'm sure @Undone can take it from there. =) I haven't worked out the schedule myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if @Armeleon Vesaz is right, and it's doing both the 28 hour and 11 hour schedules.

    No? We thought people would enjoy having an orb decoration that showed when Lost Vale was available so you didn't have to hang out around the gate waiting.
    No again. I wrote the code for the Lost Vale gate and it was working as expected when the schedule was 28hrs. To make it 11 hours I literally changed one integer from 28 --> 11; there was no logic change so I'm unsure how it could be following both schedules. My thoughts were just that we should be careful on which times in this thread we take as "truth" because it's really easy to mix up online/offline/timezones (even for me!). But again, I will further investigate when I get back to the office into the week of the 17th.

    Another thing I am curious about: are we speculating on the 28hr & 11hr schedule based on reports from multiple people or has a single person/client witnessed this?

    (I'm wondering if the same client sees both schedules, or if different clients are seeing different schedules for some odd reason)

    Screenshots from players would be really helpful here. (since they show the in game date/time) The screen shots would allow us to map the schedule as it is happening and determine if there are variables based on client mode or server instances etc.

    Here are links to the 4 posts with Lost Vale sightings I've made in this thread, with screenshot + debug info:

    - time rounded down to the hour
    - in Eastern time - so you can look at the matching screenshot + debug info - without any timezone conversions

    Lost Vale was open:

    1) 9/7/2018 - 9am Eastern
    2) 9/9/2018 - 12am Eastern
    3) 9/9/2018 - 11am Eastern
    4) 9/9/2018 - 5pm Eastern

    Note that these show that both 28-hour and 11-hour schedules being active:

    - #1 and #4 are 56 hours apart (28 x 2 = 56) = 28 hour schedule
    - #2 and #3 are 11 hours apart = 11 hour schedule

    As seen above:

    - single person / client has witnessed both 28 hour and 11 hour schedules being active
    - on live server
    - online for all these cases (not offline)
    - "open" multiplayer mode
    - Eastern time zone
    - screenshots and debug info available in the linked posts

    One thing that occurred to me - maybe the "28" hour is coded in more than 1 place? So you had to change it in other places to replace the 28 hour schedule with the 11 hour?

    Yeah, I was going to post that it was open for me this morning at 11:00AM EDT. I'm in my basement just after 5:00PM EDT and I see an image in the crystal ball. Sure enough, I'm here in the Lost Vale now. Next expected appearance for me, base on the 11 hour schedule, is 10:00PM EDT tonight.

    Nope. I originally wrote the code so that the cadence integer exists in a single spot so if I needed to change it I wouldn't screw it up =O. The code is extremely simple. In pseudo code again it is just:

bool visible = ((NBGameTime.Day-1) % kCadence) == 0;
    where NBGameTime.Day is an integer that represents the number of NB days (earth hours) since the starting epoch. I don't remember why I threw the -1 in there but all that does is shift things an hour and has always been there.

    I was at the spot for the Lost Vale from 9:58PM to 11:05PM EDT. No gate appeared. I did not visit my basement to look at the crystal ball.

    the orb is glowing at 4:43 am edt, sept 10th. (online.) that's not on either list.

    4am 9/10/2018 - that's 11 hours after 9/9/2018 - 5pm Eastern (which itself seems to be on a 28 hour schedule)

    So that matches what Armeleon Vesaz was observing.
