You cannot ban from a PvP town though, just pve towns, unless it has changed recently.

Nope, there is no banning in PvP towns. Only PvE

This is pretty much my view as well. I was actually interested in going but held off because of the pvp town. I thought someone would find some bug/exploit that would screw over others. Lo and behold, it happened.

The workarounds some are suggesting (dump everything in bank/log in as another naked character), even though they'll work, are absurd. I have to do that (and some other potentially future checklist) just to watch a community event? Not a chance. Since this exploit happened, I doubt I'll even bother reading about these events anymore, much less consider going.

 

its not an exploit. Its using the game as intended. You can pvp in a pvp town and you can steal in a pvp town. People that do not want this can hold the events somewhere outside a pvp town.

This is also why I've wanted to be able to set a Lot PvP+... I'd originally operated under a bad assumption that this was possible... I was later corrected.

Were I able to set a Lot PvP+, I would be able to set up an arena with the Lot as the 'stage' set to PvP+, with bleachers around, but outside the perimeter of the PvP+ Lot... This would allow for PvP Tournaments, while ensuring that the audience is not unwillingly made part of the action.

 

Let's be clear what I'm talking about. From what I read this post was created because someone was banned from a lot but managed to get in using some bug/exploit, kill Duke Avery, and loot him. If that bug/exploit wasn't done, Duke Avery would be alive and wouldn't have had his items looted. And, hence, this post wouldn't exist. Are you saying this isn't a bug and is working as intended?

 

I didn't get killed - I was in an Open PVP scene attending an event and was pick pocketed.

 

i guarantee it was Kinkara who did it, he plagues that event and despite being banned from the lot, he somehow manages to get onto the lot.....

 

Ok, my mistake, I read it wrong. So replace all my "killed" references to pickpocketed instead and my point still stands. That bug/exploit led to this post.

 

yeah, the bug/exploit bit was that un-named person getting past the house ban, so they could continue to pickpocket.

i've been at the events before in pve zones where you are dueling each other instead, and that works very well. the person was still there doing the things, but it was only able to happen to those who were flagged pvp. - as long as that doesn't break, i'd love to go watch more of them in pve zones, and arenas (when those are implemented)

 

To me the biggest aberration is that in order to pvp we tell the oracle to leave us alone, no more protection.

Then it comes back to haunt you with "the price of the oracle is right"...

It doesn't protect you but, it does.

Can't I just have a toggle for receiving that protection too ?

Can't I just have a toggle to let people loot me dry maybe apart from blessed items ?

This is like ruining my roleplaying... makes me ragequit all the time.

 

sounds like a bug that needs to be reported if the ban is not working. But the pickpocketing could be done by anyone there, not just the person who did it. Its not an exploit to pickpocket, but yes the exploit would be using the bug to break the ban system.

 

You can pickpocket someone's entire backpack, yet if you kill them the oracle jumps in and prevents you from taking more than one item ?

Dude, I never looked at you funny... most that did were only asking for a true pvp toggle which would have no impact on your playstyle. Really I think you're paranoid, people do respect your playstyle, when I say people I of course only include the mature people who know what they're talking about.
