How do the raffle tickets work? Mechanics that is... do you just buy one (or more) and let it sit in your pack or do you click it or do something with it to activate it?

just buy and let it sit in your inventory until the raffle is over... ^_^

You buy a ticket and the raffle drawing occurs as long as you hold onto the ticket. Mine just sit in the bank or in my inventory until the drawing.

what happens if you actually win? Does the ticket magically turn into a deed or do they announce the names of winners across the land, summoning them to some far-away city like Owl's Head to submit them in some official dusty office for inspection and processing?

I bought a small amount of tickets and when I tried to put them in the bank it says"Item (R35 anywhere Deed Raffle Ticket) can not be moved to a publicly accessible container because it cannot be traded" So if you can place your tickets in the bank consider yourself lucky. :D

From past lotteries, the ticket does not change, you don't get any notification in-game, a list of winners is put on the forums and the main SotA pages, and if you hit the 'claim rewards' button after the lottery drawings and announcements are done you will receive a lot deed (if you won, of course :) ) which will also be listed on your account page details under 'special rewards'.

I am basing it on my experience of the first raffle's tickets, which at the time, could be stored in the bank.

So the listing in special rewards is also with caveats. With last raffle, the only special addition added was town, BUT, I had won additional row houses as well, but did not realize it as I had won a row house in the previous raffle and the 'special award' was already showing.
So this means just a category of winning, not how many you won and not an indicator of if you won again if the same type of lot was previously won.

There are a bunch of items that are not able to go into the bank currently. I dumped a note that the lottery tickets are one of those, but if you find others, tag them in here.
