I really wish we had quick transport system in towns so we could easily transport people to events or various areas of towns. Could be set of paired items (boats, carriages, balloons, teleports, NPCs....), ideally with optional destination description. We already have those boats for soem islands, it would be great if we could palce them though.
Teleporters would be awesome, they work great for wizard's house.

Of course I would love these items placeable on lots and ideally working between lots in the same scene, that would make mazes just more complex:)

However, the main idea is quick transport near events, those POT scenes are large and it is hard to mark path properly.

There could be very expensive recipes for build a portal in a town. This would attract foot traffic to the town and could even be a heavy PvP area, has to be pain where there is pleasure. Such a thing should be very expensive though and restricted in other ways, rather just gold.

This one has been beat down many many times over the past year. Most of us agree with you but the dev's have made it clear that they are not going to do anything like this.

Save teleporters, a wagon connection from the north side of town next to the default exit to novia wagon which leads to an entrance in the far south would be better than nothing.

Even having someone like the Ardoris Boatman as an available NPC so that you could set him where you want to send people would be great (as an additional example to the row boats that do this).

The concern from large town owners is that some of us have multiple settlements within our scene. Very recently, we've settled in the far south of Dragon's Fall and if you didnt live here in town, you would never know our rural settlement existed.

While id settle for a wagon connection, i think a fancy glowing teleporter would be eye catching enough to encourage the additional exploration by unescorted visitors.

There's one coming to Central Brittany at some point... it was discussed in a telethon or a postmortem - anywho - a question was asked and I think it was LB that suggested a floating or air gondola service for Central Brittany.

Any scene with more than 100 lots should have a travel service.

I actually requested that in a telethon, they responded to it (Lord British did) and said they would open a Jira for it. I wanted it in big towns like Central Brit. Same system that exists in Adoris.

Now, they make promises like this and Im fully aware I'll probably never see it since that Jira is probably #7456 on their list of 13,400 tickets.

(lol, Duke Avery actually posted about the same thing) :)

Actually not. In R19, I asked about placeable teleporters in the post mortem (using the wizard house as an example) and Starr said that was something they would definitely considering doing. I think they just get busy and sometimes these requests have to be made 4-5 times before being implemented.

This is the only time I have ever seen them suggest that was R19, it has been covered *often* by developers in the entire theme of "regional economies". If they put in teleporters to different towns or say a teleport system like UO, I'll eat my hat and you can watch it!

Who knows though, maybe they do a big paradigm shift!

Right now, I cant even get a PoT portal from my PoT in desolis to a PoT that is a 10 second walk south on the shore because of their stance on this.

That isn't what OP is asking for. This is for teleporting in scene like the Ardoris boatmen. A way to get to the center of a POT from zone in, for example.

My idea is mostly for the POTs which are huge scenes and it is really hard to provide good directions to attend event at the far side of the town, besides it is a lot of time wasted even when people teleport to the town they need 5 minute walk when there could easily be wagon/boatman/teleporter leading directly to the event.

Though I also wish the system was more complex and sandboxish in nature to allow other possible applications.

The devs have made it clear that they are not going to have portals that work over long distances. This is because they really want to give the regional economy thing a chance to work.

Having same-scene-only teleporters would be a good thing, especially if they could be placed in a POT outside of lots. Perhaps they could be "configured" by using the dye system. Same primary and secondary color links them up. Check all portals in the scene, discard the one being used, then if there is more than one match, it could be picked randomly. They could also glow using the dye colors.

Of course if regular players were able to make these, it could cause some chaos if someone else's color was copied, so perhaps portals outside lots could only go to another portal outside lots, and portals on lots could only go to another portal on the same lot. Or something like that.

Then you could easily reach the center of a POT from the entrance (and go back to the gate, too!), and you could jump to your hot tub from your front door. You could use them in basements too, but you wouldn't able to portal between your house and basement because they're different scenes. They could also be temporary just for a single event, then removed later.

There are also plans to eventually add local quick travel to Brittany. I remember that when someone suggested using balloons as the equivalent of the Ardoris boats, the devs were face-palming that they hadn't thought of that already.

I hope they never have a quick transport system. I hope as the game evolves we see more and more limits to travel.

I understand that people have limited time, I get that people want convenience. But when you create fast ways to travel you also create a lot of situations where areas of the game get ignored. Part of the reason normal travel is so important is that you never know what kind of adventure you can get into once you begin. That's a huge part of this open world, and quick travel diminishes that.

I think this is the correct problem to solve. Event signage that a POT owner can place at path intersections would go along way to fixing this.

Um, @2112Starman and @Baron Drocis Fondorlatos - Had you bothered to read the OP, you'd know he is clearly not speaking of fast travel between towns - sooo....

I realize what he was talking about, within towns. My post is talking about that.

When you walk through Ardoris you get a different experience than if you take the boat to teleport automatically. You're essentially ignoring Ardoris when you take the boat teleport and shrinking the town down to just an entrance, some merchants, and an exit. That's not good for the game. Eventually Ardrois will have animations that actually move you on a boat (I believe) and it will not be a teleport. Just like the boats on the overworld map. And that's good.

    Y
    E
    S

Great idea for I N town but have to make it expensive ass all hell for POT owner to place and worthwhile to use. Pay for it and sure. In Local Town ONLY. Not a cheap fare either:)

    Great Idea.

To bad to many can not really read.

Well, I hate to buck against a common opinion, but I do not like this idea. I own a metropolis, and if anyone were to tell me it would take too long to get everywhere in the town,I would seriously not agree. If you hold a event in your town, why would you not want people passing by features, housing vendors? Why would you not want them to see what you have done to make the town special for it's residents? Why would you want them to bypass the residents had work to decorate their own homes, which they are proud of? As far as I am concerned, fast travel is counter productive to town discovery and exploration. I love going into a POT and seeing what the governor came up with as far as design, how the residents of the town decorate. I know you can say, give us fast travel and the rest of you explorer types don't have to use it,but if anyone can't take 1-4 minutes to enter your town and foot it to your event, they need to remember this is not a fast food drive up window. Anyone too busy to enjoy the game, well they are too dang busy. :)
