Anything with a value of zero is protected
    -all pledge rewards
-all items purchased from the add-on store
    -all bundle items
    -all make a difference items
-all property deeds (even the deeds won in the raffle)
    -all active raffle tickets

Anything with a value greater than zero is subject to the ransom system
    -all items crafted in game
-all homes purchased in game from NPC merchants
-all items purchased with COTO from NPC merchants... you can buy 5000$ worth of COTO in the add-on store and turn it all into items purchased from a COTO vendor in game and get robbed and lose it all - and while standing at the COTO vendor if you're that unlucky
    -all expired raffle tickets
-all loot obtained from mobs (including COTOs that are dropped in game)

I'm sure I'm missing a few things.... the tell is in the item's value.

When I catch someone stealing, I usually fill their face up with arrows. If they're quick on their feet and take off running, I shoot them in the back.

Someone mentioned earlier the mechanic should be amended to allow players to recoup their stolen items if they catch the thief - I love that idea... looting a thief is a virtue hit - so right now nothing happens to them other than they usually die.

What if you put all of your reagents into a bag that is in your invent
But does this mean they can enter our homes and steal items out of our containers using virtue?

    thanks.

seems like there should be more risk for them since the reward could be pretty large depending on who they steal from and how they roll.

but no dog in this fight tho.

cant really play at the moment other than farming melee mobs with bugged ranged attacks :p

A person can only take items out of home containers if he/she has permission to access them, so always double check that once in a while.

I set the permissions of each container to co-owner as well as set each one to private. I'm just wondering if the thieves in this game have found a way to get past those settings since they are now getting past house bans.

I don't believe that's an issue at the moment. I think the permissions system (if set correctly) is preventing unauthorized players from having access to stored items.

Also, if you right click on any storage container, there's a log of what was taken and by who, so that would show you for sure if someone had removed something.

Since the lot permission setting "Allow lot to be looted" is never going to be popular- the only PvP lock picking activity I can see is when you bind a player or throw him into a dungeon. Then they have to break out.

Combat Logging... That's a Ban-able offence in some games.

Blood Bay will have player housing, as does a number of PVP flagged POTs. They would all be lootable.

That would effectively eliminate any hope of stealing from NPCs; especially since Pickpocket doesn't work on the NPCs themselves.

For those who don't get it, stealing is generally the best alternative to combat which offers any sense of thrill... and you want this experience to be PvP exclusive?

Although I didn't explicitly state it (my bad) I was referring to stealing from other players. Stealing from NPCs is a whole other topic, and not something that I'm concerned about.

Specifically, lock picking NPC buildings should be fine anywhere. I have no problem with that.

I'd love to see an innate ability to help guard (or at least make it require much longer time to successfully pick pockets). This would be similar to how tranquility helps to lessen the impact of being interrupted in spell casting.

Maybe you have to be out of combat mode for it to be "active"? Also, this: https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/f...should-be-fun-for-everyone.75996/#post-735226

Combat? I think you're confused what this thread is about... Re-read any post above for the current discussion on mez- thieving.

Thanks for fixing this bug so that it can't be used anymore.

Therefore, anyone caught using such 'tactics' is breaking the TOS (it is now considered an exploit) and that person would deserve a ban. Right?

Hmmmm... interesting. Someone going around for the remainder of R37 mez-stealing would now be considered an exploit as this has been identified by a dev as being a bug...

    Great point @Fister Magee

But how would you prove that this was.... oh wait, combat logs and screenshots should do the trick.
