My apologies if this has already been covered. I couldn't find any threads on this specific topic.

I 'm just wondering how copyrighted the music from your previous Ultima Games is, specifically music from Ultima III through Ultima VII. Even using some of the themes would give certain musical arrangements a hauntingly emotional quality for those of us fortunate enough to have strong memories of playing those games.

To be honest, anything you could provide regarding Ultima music would be greatly appreciated. :)

Unfortunately Lord British has said that EA retains the rights to the music from the various Ultima games, this includes many fan favorites such as Stones by Iolo.

I dont have the source handy, as it was in one of the Dev Hangouts (Or maybe an interview)

That's very disappointing to hear, but thank you for the reply.

Wonder if he could license the use of the ultima music for this game?

All jokes aside, though. It would be nice to have some similar sounding music, ultima had terrific music.

I certainly agree! Haven't heard much about the plans regarding the music, anyway.
Wonder, if they could get a hold on the former Ultima music composers?

    @Ober-Samurai
As we hit the 1.5m stretch goal, we get:

New David "Iolo" Watson Musical Composition! (Iolo created "Stones" for Ultima!)

Cant wait to hear the new piece!

As I side note, I find it awesome that:
Iolo in game is a Bard that makes and sells crossbows.
David Watson in real life is a bowsmith, fencing master, composer and a lutenist.

I think they could circumvent this legal issue if they were to allow players to create their own compositions of music in which could be played on an instrument of their choice much like that in Lords of the Ring Online.

Here is an example of it being done in Lords of the Rings Online as seen at : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX0eeZzyJas&list=PLD9D56301CA864768

*Whistles* Now that's what this game needs, like I said Vice, you've had a stroke of PURE. GENIUS. if RG reads this he needs to at least consider putting that into the game. Not only could we be able to hear some classics/remixes of Ultima songs, but we can also get original music from the player base. :)

A brilliant idea. The ability to have players actually 'play music' or some music system would be extraordianry. How amazing would it be to go into a tavern to listen to a group play some old Ultima tunes or a new composition!
