I used to hunt in Libris Ruins back when there was just rubble everywhere. It wasn't pretty. I just re-visited the scene in the offline game and I was astounded at how beautiful it has become. :)

    Yes they are!

All of the ruins are, in fact. You should visit them all (again).

If there were discoverable lore there it would be perfect!

Just watch out for the big game

I wish you weren't flagged pvp for entering the ruins, but I guess the only way I would ever see them, is go in offline mode.....

Being flagged pvp isn't that bad. Keep your eyes open and you'll be fine.

    The ruins are worth it

I hate PVP, and I don't like being flagged for it... I'd rather go to offline mode to see it.... but ty anyways.... Being flagged when you're guild is flagged for guild wars is one reason why I left my guild. No ty....

Guys, just drop into solo or group mode for a little while if you dislike the current pvp model, and explore to your hearts content and only fear the nasty mobs!

wow, didn't realise that, sorry for the bad advice folks. Is this (pvp zones blocked to pve solo mode) a good idea?

They're not blocked, you're just flagged for the duration.

Just go during off hours, empty your inventory of anything of value, and wear cheap/quest item gear. There are a few high level mobs in them, but it's not too hard to avoid them if you can't take them on without your better gear. I've never actually encountered players in them, though I've maybe spent three hours tops in shardfalls, and that was before release.

Or, install the QA version, and explore when the QA server is open.

If there are rewards to reap in pvp zones that are altered to reflect the risk of getting killed, it doesnt make sense to allow party mode.

If you just wanna go in and look at it you can do that in offline mode

A long time ago we used to be able to enter PVP zones in Single Player mode, but that was changed and you were automatically flagged when you entered. I think it had something to do with the risk vs. reward stuff. Loot was supposed to be better in PVP zones than in PVE zones, but I didn't notice any real difference back then. I still visited Libris Ruins often (before it got beautified) and never met any PVP players there. The only reason I don't go to any PVP zones any more in online mode is because the mobs are more difficult than they used to be. I wouldn't mind meeting and being killed occasionally by PVP players but if I can't even handle the mobs it makes no sense to go there. In offline mode I have my three companions to help me so I can go places I can't go alone in online mode. Although I just tried going to Deep Ravenswood for the first time in years and a red Lich killed me with a single blow despite my companions.

I have never seen another soul in the PvP areas. You have nothing to worry about with the player base as low as it currently is.

The main issue is the lack of privacy on the friends list. If you have unscrupulous friends that see you in a PvP zone.....

They are fun zones to explore at least once, but I haven't found any of the pvp areas to be worth your time from a pve perspective.

I have run in to the very, very odd person in a zone - but I go looking hehe.

Also you can hide your location from your friends list to remove this worry.

Good idea or bad is irrelevant... It was a changed clamored for by the PvP Community.

I can attest to this, at least in the Ruins I tend to visit for Obsidian Chips. Only saw someone else there once and we ended up keeping our distances.

I did I was trying to do my shroud quest and was running through one pvp zone trying to work out how in F to get in some stupid building that it said i needed to get in, but couldnt find how, and some stupidly higher lvl player than my seriously low level backside decided to 1 stab me to death from behind

Ive always hated pvp for these sorts of reason.. no one is a "big I am" when picking on a little guy.

I always assume they're compensating for some pain, or lack in their normal lives... Sad creatures... pity them.

That's exactly what happened to me running my shroud quest a while back.

Some player (s) must have literally been sitting there in a stealth mode, like a brain dead toad waiting for a fly, to one-shot back-stab me for a pvp kill. At the time I recall thinking wow, why would anyone do that and how on earth do they consider this fun recreation?
