It was expressed by many that the trolls are always camped, myself I dont know as I have not been there yet to try for the ring.

 

I don’t mine, but I kinda like the idea that stuff isn’t boss only drops hopfully the drop rate is smaller though.

Imop there should be more than one option to get the ring.

 

Or add more Trolls.

Go to Vertas Pass - it drops from that troll also - not just the "Troll Twins".

 

Not sure but it maybe because their is a blessing that you need troll toes to get. I "think" you have to get them from the troll twins although I am not positive since I only did it once a long time ago... Since I use a house in Aldhaven I can confirm there is a lot of camping going on with that troll in the pass even now after the initial rush.

I'm usually running by that area or waiting for a troll encounter there. Sometimes the camping get's a bit aggressive. I see people fighting to get the troll's attention often.

 

Yes. That specific encounter is part of the quest.

 

As mentioned, vertas is a wonderful place to get the ring

 

I'll bet that the bridge trolls in the Ruined Keep can also have that ring as loot.

 

Here's what I remember from Zeke telling the story of the BMC Ring on Laz&Jack's lunch show:

The BMC were lowly but hardworking miners and gatherers , with no real fighting skills to speak of.
They tried to make their way to Novia from Ultima Online through Brightbone pass, but at the time, it was too difficult.
So - they used the skills they excelled in, and decided to excavate a way through into Novia, which is unofficially referred to as Cooper's Pass (the gap in the crags/mountains to the West of Necropolis Barrens)
During that excavation they were ambushed by frost trolls, and many lives were lost.
Some of those fallen BMC members had magical rings that were made of enchanted blackrock, which they were carrying with them from the World of UO
As legend tells, the frost trolls sifted through the carnage for treasure and looted those rings along with whatever else they could find.

 

This story doesn't alleviate the problem.

 

Oh, this belt of the ox like ring. I thought people were camping this for the buff from toenails. LOL !!!

 

You can only have one set of trollnails at any given time. No point in camping it.

 

I’m in Vertas all the time and have yet seen that ring drop from the troll there.
