Let us pick up bounty missions to go defeat enemies for a bounty reward. The difficulty of the creatures could be tiered, meaning you'd have to work your way up to being able to accept bounties on tougher ones or just level appropriate for the player that picked up the bounty. These would tie into the overland encounters and possibly specific locations, so the bounty would tell us where the target was last seen and we would then go look for the overland encounters nearest that point. I think this would give more meaning to the overland encounters and give the players a repeatable task we could do. This would also give players a reason to travel to scenes other than the ones we normally grind in... You could also earn titles as you collect bounties ect... especially in a tiered version.
The name of the targets could be put on a random generator for simplicity, though you might get some repeats. The rewards could be gold and perhaps a pattern for a bounty hunter cloak as you progress signifying your expertise along with the possible title. It would be nice to go out after Bob the Unwholesome or Porkchop the Unscrupulous for a change rather than nameless enemy elf 3047.
This of course could be expanded upon, to things other than search and destroy, but that seems the simplest to implement as a first step.

Would be cool if there were rare scenes only available in the higher tier hunts where you raid a stronghold with a handfull of NPC bounty hunters which you could not only assign to an area but also control during their phases. You would have to adapt to the different hunters random styles snd assign them appropriately, leading up to the final assignment where you take on the boss and you’re buffed/debuffed based on how the other events played out.

While I’d like this to be a general scenario used for other PvE, large scale missions, this is merely an example on how it could relate to your bounty idea.

Like the Quest to kill the head wolf? How about Min Tang? Necorpolis????? sorry but there are plenty of quests out there already no need for more,

    and this -
wait that was the 6th tier of a CP, a twinkle in an eye then perceived to be something that would have ben abused? CPs where supposed to have a follow up after tier 6.

I know wish lists , but what is the hand story???

would be nice ot have quests that can be done entered without stumbling thru them and getting lucky and fix stuff that has been started but left broken because systems where abused resulting in FAILURE of many concepts.

sorry ot bash so much but come on lets get a viable completed game out there first

    that is my wish

I'll dig up this thread as I had similar thoughts last night after encountering a bounty hunter after clearing a random scene. And having been given one mission by a bounty master, and that one occurred in a tailored scene.

My thoughts are that there would be multiple bounties for a location, but only one type of bounty at one time. For example, you could have a bounty each for bandits and undead near Kingsport in Hidden Vale. However, you'd only have one of each type. Though you could also have bounties for bandits and undead near the Ruined Keep, as that is a different location. Wolf packs could be put up for bounties, as well. This is remembering an NPC in Owl's Head, I think it was, who mentioned a wolf pack just outside of town. Other creatures, or whatever, could be included as well. XP and GP could be straight up, or scaled by the difficulty of the encounter to the player-- red = x 1, orange = x 1/2, yellow = x 1/4 and green = x 1/8. The quest item would be something like "Proof of Bounty, Bandit, Kingsport x 1/2"

If you encounter an NPC bounty hunter in the scene, you could fight for the bounty, give up the claim, or the NPC gives up the claim. The strength of the NPC bounty hunter is random. The NPC's decision would be weighted by the difficulty scale vs. the player. That is, a bounty hunter that is green to the player would most likely give up the bounty. While one that is red would be more likely to fight for the slip. Agreements could be made through conversations, as always. The player could even talk the bounty hunter out of fight, or into one, even. Rewards could possibly be amended by the difficulty of the fight with the bounty hunter, if a scaled reward system is used. For example, killing a red mob then taking out a green bounty hunter would result in a loss for the player. If the bounty hunter kills the player, the player loses the Proof of Bounty and can have no further interaction with the NPC in that scene instance.

Players marked PVP would enter a scene, and that overland encounter would not disappear from the overland map. So it would be possible to encounter a player in the scene. Other players marked PVP entering would remain PVP and the players interact how they see fit. PVE players entering the scene could leave, or perhaps duel for the Proof. Or chat with another player without combat. Proofs of Bounty would be the only transfer of property in these situations, with the proof scale, if used, being set by the original player in the scene.

If you don't have a bounty and enter a vacant scene (without PVP player), clear it as you can today, and encounter an NPC bounty hunter... then... the simple thing would be to have the NPC say, "thanks for giving me an easy payday," and have no interaction (the hunter has the quest, so is one that pulls the Proof automagically). Or maybe have dialog as above, and perhaps battling the bounty hunter. The Proof of Bounty being scaled with the NPC bounty hunter.

To throw another idea in alongside this, perhaps when the treasure map mechanism is in, then this could be an extension of that. You can find a bounty slip from a fallen hunter or something.
