Oh I forgot about that!
I long ago decided to not use companions anymore because the Air Elemental was worthless. It was some kind of pacifist back in the day as it would refuse to fight and just keep laughing. Since they fixed that problem, I tested it against dummies and it dealt roughly 5-10% of my DPS... not sure it's worth the steep focus penalty and the creepy laughter .

Maybe summons will be useful with relics? Sounds like a good test to be done.

 

You should try it with the pet accessories too, just the crafted ones!

 

For me, I run around with my level 120 Earth Elemental, and it does nice damage for me (and can sometimes stun things). Never actually tried or used the other ones.

 

Food (+10 summon)+imbued gem (+20 summon) in weapon and you be surpraisly... My 131 Earth Elemental can solo kill spaders in Panopticon.

 

Here's the kind of damage I get with 140 Summon Air Elemental, gingerbread and fireflies.



It's not super amazing but it's a pretty decent DOT... as long as I can keep it alive.

Are you using pet accessories? I'm not using any.

[edit] Ah, you're using an earth elemental. The air elemental is not as good as some of the other summons.

 

This seems to be a good benchmark.

Only one question left, how long does it take between attacks? My main concern is DPS instead of biggest hits.

 

3 seconds.

[edit] Oh yeah, that's also with 120 Train Summoned Pet Damage.

 

So it's roughly 50 DPS. Not bad really
