I've also said many times, if this thing ever augers in, the BMC is gonna auger in right along with it.

And this is directed at all you naysayers out there trolling this magnificent creation.

Nah, while it is true that the BMC has branched out onto other platforms and are experimenting with other games, there is an ulterior motive behind that move. Shroud is and will always be HOME BASE. We still meet every Sunday in Shroud, and we still conduct business in Shroud. Only way that'll ever change is if Shroud pulls the plug, but I have it on good authority, that isn't ever going to happen. The BMC will always be here. It's home.

That's true. Membership in the BMC has always been based on the idea that RL comes first, and burnout is a recognized ailment. That's why we've never held our members to an active player standard. When a player joins the BMC, it's a lifelong commitment. Participation isn't necessarily a requirement unless you're in the leadership. We got members that log in once a year, and that's enough. We do a semi-annual audit of the membership and those that haven't logged into the "home base" game, which is Shroud, they're dropped from the rolls during that audit.
So... Being away doesn't really mean you're away in the BMC. You're never considered absent. When you're a member, you're a member for life.

This reminds me of an old friend who used to say "this never happens, except when it does".

 

It is a seldom occurrence. Some members do resign and go to other guilds, which is fine, the BMC has a revolving door.
But there are also, the very unfortunate moments, when we actually lose a member. Those members are memorialized in our charter.
And then sometimes, you just don't know WTF happened. They just kinda disappear, and in that case, they obviously haven't logged in for a year or more, and they're automatically dropped from the rolls. We've had a few members return, out of the blue, and reapply for membership.
Then there are those, that departed the BMC under less than admirable circumstances, and they got put on the sh*t list. Doesn't even matter if they rejoin under a different name or character. "WHEN", not "IF" they're ever discovered back in the ranks, doesn't matter, they're promptly escorted to, what the members affectionately refer to as "The Sh*tter", and thrown out the guild.
