Naming mini-elementals restrictions?

I tend to have a new idea for name for my pet elementals far too often, but my most recent idea was marked as "Invalid Name".

After naming my earth elemental "Dumb led Ore" I wanted to rename my air elemental "C4" (sounds like Zephyr but more explosive at the same time) and the latter was rejected.

but is there one for decoration?

 

I would suspect that either there is a minimum number of characters required, or being primarily known as an explosive device got it on a ban list.

 

It could be that you're not allowed to use numbers in the name? I've renamed all my little house critters and never ran into an issue. But I've also never tried using numbers, or two letter names.

 

I once tried to name a dead body "Lord British".....

 

Well, as C4 was not accepted I settle for a while with "Föhn" (yes, the germn special character ö was accepted without any complaint or problem!).

 

could try C-4 or C_4 not sure if they allow those characters though never tried.

That defeats the purpose. The english 4 "four" is pronounced differently than the german 4 ("vier") so Cee Four would - to me as a german - not sound like the wind "Zephyr" but like Siifor

Pet and NPC names all go through the same basic filters. In particular, the only non-alphabetic characters allowed are blank, and an apostrophe (for names like O'Riley, etc.) Letters with accent marks are usually allowed. Player names have a further limitation of only one blank. After all that there are probably further filters.

I know that digits are allowed for vendor names (so you can show last update and commodity prices), but I don't think they're allowed for pet names.
