Just cause it says it on that tool tip doesn't mean it actual helps. I can't confirm this but I have been told by someone that has run dps tests that it is capped at -100%. Sorry but I'm going to trust my source on this one

 

I don't think that Gust gets any benefit from charging.

 

I think it's probably more like it's not possible to mitigate less than no damage, so the tool tip can still be accurate, but it just doesn't make any difference beyond 100%.

 

A 6 stack of Gust adds about 10 seconds to the stun for me. That's pretty powerful for something that hits 100% of the time. Go try using it against the air boss in the breach and see if you still think it doesn't help to charge.

 

Wow, you're correct. I swear that I tested this before and got no benefit. Maybe I dreamed it? Anyway, I get 19 seconds of stun when charged to 6, so thanks for the tip.

Ranged is pretty under powered now compared to say fire magic or taming. Even melee users are probably able to gain experience faster than ranged users.
