Meteorites and Volcanic Eruptions

I was wondering when we would start seeing meteorite falls and volcanic eruptions.




Also, are the meteorites and lava rocks going to be something that can be collected as resources for use in crafting?

 

Most of the dev comments regarding "Volcanos" and "Meteorites" have been in reference to those scenes as the PvP-enforced hexes.

From the way that stretch goal you mentioned is worded (as in "Contested Resource Nodes"), I suspect that is the case.

So, I would say: Some time after the PvP system is enabled.

I think it would be cool if the meteorite falls happened as random events throughout the world. And if you're in a hex with a volcano (like Owl's Head), then you're
subject to eruptions.

 

Well, that is what DarkStarr said, however he did not elaborate on how extensive the implementation in R8 will be.

Could be just the "Duels" step that went missing from the R7 schedule a while back.

 

I'm guessing it will simply be Duels. Then again, these devs are crazy, so maybe R8 will be full loot non-consensual open PvP.

It's one way to see who the griefers will be in the game

 

I don't know if anyone else played Asheron's Call at all but during the end of beta there was this huge meteor in the sky that kept getting bigger and bigger and finally blew up the beta world. It was really cool : )

 

It makes one wonder what the animation will be like

Will it be bright and happy looking, or more close to a reality
