Something to look into

As I knew my role as healer, and I knew that my Liege was going to be hunted, targetted and attacked mercilessly, i created my deck into many heals. This then at the time of most importance came to my attention that you can *only* heal people in your group....

umm....

~watches... spams heals.. fails being able to heal... watch @DarkStarr eat Dirt~ ....

And there was nothing that could be done to help him. Le Mew, Le Sigh.

Any thoughts on having heals *not* be only group only?

 

Hmm... I cannot think of one at the moment, but perhaps someone else can:

Provided you can be attacked by your target's enemies, are there any exploits possible from being able to heal anyone you want ?

 

Ooor.. Perhaps you could think on a "heal enemy modifier" so if you hold a certain key (like the end key for example - remappable) and then heal .. this way you would actually have to be purposely trying to heal your enemy and not something that could be done by accident.

This wording of "Enemy" could be used as any other word you may like.. "anyone".. "not in group avatar". Something.

Not everyone not in your group is an enemy, sometimes multiple groups will go into PvP yet still need to heal their groups.

The whole scenario of wanting to heal DarkStarr while he was being pummeled to death... is a grand example of "he's not in my group but darn it i NEED to try and save my Liege"

 

You should just be able to heal a target, even if they are out of group.

To avoid healing an enemy while in combat with them, they were going to add a modifier key (ALT, I believe) to have a spell target yourself. I don't think that's in the current build, though.

I also think that if you're too close to a fireball, the splash should hurt you... but that's just me ("I'm taking you all with me, hahaha!" - BOOM)

 

Holding ALT down does temporarily target your own character in the latest release.

 

I'm betting this gets fixed as the releases come...I wouldn't worry to much about it. Good thing you brought it up though.

 

They should allow healing anyone. It encourages altruism. That's one thing I liked about guild wars 2, you can randomly help out people who aren't in your party. Even Rez them.

 

I think you should be able to heal players not in your group...otherwise it's just another nail in the coffin of pure healers.

I do understand what exploits it's trying to prevent, but there has to be a better way than this.

 

What's that? Allowing people who may not be PVP enabled to "tamper" with combat?

 

Sure, that's one. During a duel perhaps.

I was thinking more along the lines of someone healing you only so they could kill you over and over again though.

 

Rez killing could happen reguardless, it is pointless to a person looking to rez kill.. to heal you as they drop your health.. they just hover over your corpse and wait for you to return to get it... Has happened to me far to many times that i know of this.

Target healing yourself is possible, healing your group mates is possible, this inability to do what my deck was set up to do and that was "try" to help DarkStarr have "some" chance against the ganks ~laughs~ it failed... therefore i failed .. unacceptable

 

Yeah; I don't ever have to heal myself. I only lifedrain.

I don't know how to PvP, so what do I know... Isn't it every man for themselves? Deathmatch style...

Not necessarily. The party system means people can gang up.
