I wanted to try some tradeskills for this release, making armor, be it cloth or leather. But there seems to be missing basic materials used in every recipe : wax and salt. Where can those be acquired? Traders? Dungeons? Animals? I got some corpse wax from skelettons but it wont work...Any suggestion?

Buy them from Handac at the Owl's Head crafting pavilion. :)

I do wonder when those raw resources can be gathered vs. purchasing them from Handac. Man, this game has such a long ways to go to be complete.

Will we be able to gather/refine these or are they meant as some form of economic control? (meaning they'll only be available on NPC vendors allowing for the game engine to adjust prices)

I'd lump coal o_O into the list and would expect cooking and maybe alchemy to have something similar.

Very good point, as that's one dial they can control quite easily. And yeah, coal would be a prime example as it is used in every smelting recipe. However given all the talk about player-driven economy, and even the ability to mint our own coins, I would expect everything can be obtained through gathering at some point and most players will get these from other players rather than NPCs.

Try the 64-client. With some large scenes, the game won't load if it can't use enough RAM.

    Glad I can help!

The latest patch notes also mention they just made an optimization that should help with Owl's Head.
